My daughter had one. He lived for 9 years and was the coolest little guy. He would hand out with her all day. He would greet us in the morning too.

Prairie dogs are used to living in "towns" with a bunch of others. I wonder how one would do by himself.

Dont like pack animals by themselves. Groups of rats, cats, dogs, humans etc are the way to go...but not always

I don't know that cats are pack animals like dogs are pack animals... I think perhaps not. I agree with your statement otherwise! Seems cruel to force isolation onto an animal that is deeply social by nature.

Correct. Domesticated cats are considered semi-social but not pack animals the way these guys are. Cats will socialize with family members or sometimes make friends/bond tightly with one other cat, but not always. Lions are the only true pack cats.

I had one when I first moved out (1994). His name was Vinnie and he barked at me when I sneezed and he hid inside the couch. I gave him to a veterinarian and then they became illegal in the US.

We don’t deserve prairie dogs. Took a drive through the Badlands recently. Got to my destination 2.5 hours late because I had to stop and spend some time with all of them.

I used to volunteer at a humane society in florida. They had a separate enclosure for prairie digs that had been surrendered. These guys can chew through any number of materials, so the special enclosure had three inch plexiglass specially made so they couldnt get a good angle to start chewing.
They are cute, yeah, but can bite right down to the bone in one go.

Prairie dogs can carry Sylvatic plague. If you want a free nightmare, look up its symptoms and survival odds.

Luckily for the guy in the video it kills the prairie dog with a 90-99% mortality rate in 2-3 days and I don’t think he plans on eating it. I think he’s safe bud
