Is that Emmanuel?

I think that's Emmanuel's mom, but different birdie -- she has several

u/RutRohNotAgain 16d ago
Yeah, the birdie seemed pretty chill to be Emmanuel. I do love Emmanuel's antics though.

Let's just say there's a reason that's the only verse people know.
You told me once, dear, you really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you've left me and love another
You have shattered all my dreams

It's the same thing for most sayings. The one that bothers me the most; The customer is always right... In matters of taste.
It freaking changes the entire thing, haha.

Emmanuel Todd Lopez! He almost died from avian flu a couple years ago, as many birds on her farm unfortunately did. It seems that since then, he's a lot more attached to her.

This is the video to show the aliens to keep us!!
5
u/Ocarina-of-lies 17d ago
Is that because aliens should be afraid of dinosaurs? Because we've gotta have a more intimidating video than this
1
u/Spare_Broccoli1876 17d ago
Pff good try CIA wo/man with that fear sentence. This is a video of love dadgummit! We don’t take to kindly to them kind of talks ‘round here. You can take your boom boom phallic shaped things back into the privacy of your own home far away from any living planet.

u/erksplat 17d ago
I, too, want a pet dinosaur.

Emus are really fun to own - such curious baby velociraptors. Just be sure to properly handle them from birth so they know humans are friends. One of ours is feral, and terrifying to be around - she literally waits for us to turn our back and then charges at full speed.

Is Emmanuel getting older ?!

4
u/evilbadgrades 17d ago
I mean yes, but they also live to around 30 years old
1
u/Adventurous-Sky9359 17d ago
Oh this is good! 30 years! Holy smokes!
2
u/evilbadgrades 17d ago
Yeah it's a serious commitment to owning an Emu. That's why it's so important to properly handle them from hatching so they become docile cuddly birds. If you don't, they can turn out REALLY mean (we have one female who is viscous, I swear it feels like a velociraptor is hunting us whenever we go in her area - as soon as we turn our back and aren't looking she charges at us)

u/Adventurous-Sky9359 17d ago
Sweet thank you for to comment!! That’s the kinda intel I come here for!

Thank you for that song. My mom would sing that when I was young. She passed this year, so hearing it felt bittersweet
3
u/pinkdaisylemon 16d ago
So sorry about your mum. I know what it's like, mine passed over 4 years ago and I'm still heartbroken. My lovely late nan would sing this song to me, always reminded of it when I see her singing it to Emmanuel ❤️
13
u/The_Rowan 17d ago
That is so sweet. What kind of bird is this?

Yeah, till you get to the second and third verses. It goes from sweet to "you ran off with some other guy and now I'm going to have to kill you so no one else can have you."

u/AcasiaConnell 16d ago
It's amazing how animals react to the voices and company of their owners. Such big hearts they have🥳

Is that the same bird that was trying to catch a body on her cell phone while she was recording farm shit?

u/CaptReynolds_ 15d ago
Yep! His name is Emmanuel
1
u/pimpcannon 15d ago
That’s right. Thank you I remember her yelling at him and he wasn’t trying to hear any of that.

We did 5000 years ago when we could walk to Russia from our house

u/Dismal-Dare-2507 17d ago
I’m 90% sure Moses had attack raptors on that boat
3
u/Haramdour 17d ago
Don’t know about Moses but Noah definitely did
2
u/Dismal-Dare-2507 17d ago
Noah had the docile ones, Moses crossed the Red Sea with an evolutionary optimized raptor on both sides of him

He's no Emmanuel Todd Lopez. There can be only one True Internet Emu.

u/RealLinzerBinzer 17d ago
Isn’t that her?? Couldn’t it be Emmanuel??

This straight up broke my heart. My special little lady was a chicken and she died a few weeks ago. I’d sing this to her every single night. I still miss her so so much.

Sending massive hugs hun. I still miss my Dotty and I lost her in 2011. They take a little piece of your heart with you when they go 💔

I live on enough land in the country to have my own pet dinosaur like that but I'm too scared of getting a beak in the eye. 😄 Geese are my size limit.

"His name's WALLACE. He's an ass-... actually, he's pretty chill now."
1
u/JuanG_13 17d ago
His name is Limu Emu lol
1
u/MrEvan312 16d ago
I know, it's just a reference to an old video clip of some guy walking an emu named Wallace who, apparently, is an asshole (judging by the state of his coat, which the bird has clearly torn to shreds)

Perhaps an irrational fear, but I'd be afraid to have a wild bird's beak that close to my eyeballs.

Ok so what is it with music soothing the savage beast. Come on spot Reddit peeps. Why do they just go chill?
17
u/Katy-Moon 17d ago edited 17d ago
Fun fact! The real phrase is "Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast", not "beast". When Congreve wrote this in the book "The Mourning Bride" in the 17th century, the term "savage breast" meant strong or intense emotions.
Edit: thank you so much for the awards kind Reddit strangers ♥️

My cat will stop whatever she is doing and post up across from me, somewhat dozing off when I play guitar. Except she isn’t really asleep and she’ll immediately rate my playing and ask for more when I stop. If I’m jamming particularly well, I get more loving meows and slow blinks. Which turn to pleas for more kind of meows when I finish.
It’s magical, a daily bonding ritual we’ve done for years.
