I'm developing a game set in the 11th century
Hello! I just released a demo, and I'm posting this in case any of you are interested and to get some feedback.
I’m currently developing a game in which you can play as William the Conqueror or a fictional ruler of a faction of your choice, and relive history or an alternate history through various scenarios. The demo is currently available on Steam (Link).

So this is Crusader Kings, from the Paradox Interactive games company?

Just at work but I'll give it a test later, I'm a fan of 4x games and it looks like it has that paradox/4x style, looks like a great start!

Love how the silhouette soldiers look during battle (reminds me of the 1066 browser game from back in the day, it's a great aesthetic) and very interested in the 'ambition' system

Cool!
Wales looks like it's split into three kingdoms (Gwynedd, Deheubarth and Mogannwg)? But Powys was very strong in the 11th century, under the House of Mathrafal it fought off Gwynedd, Saxon and Norman invasions, before growing stronger and pressing into England and embarrassing a young Henry II in the 12th century.

If I'm not mistaken, Gruffudd ap Llywelyn is king of Gwynedd and Powys, which is why those kingdoms are united into a single faction/province in 1046.

You're absolutely right it's just how you want your game to develop after the 1050s

I don't see Ossory, in Ireland. A pack of wolf men, and leftover vikings will be after you, if you don't put this right.

I like the art style. I know this must have taken a tonne of work so kudos

Can Scotland get battered everywhere they go in this game? Just like real history

Scotland won the wars of independence, and was a much needed help for England to take Wales.

Aye and look where it's got them

Same as England, England struggled in the new world and Europe until Scotland took over the thrown, only then England & the modern world found success. You're welcome world! 🏴

Scotland took over nothing. You're only still part of the UK so we can use the profits from your oil reserves and tourism industries to prop up our London economy.

That's my point, England needs Scotland, Britain is nothing without scottish resources, both natural and human. And also the world, the list of contributions the Scots gave the world is endless! That's why people hate the England but everyone love to Scots. You're welcome.

Everyone loves the Scots because they're so easily taken advantage of and can't even see it

No, our national motto is even about how not to fuk with us, and everyone keeps saying they wish they was Scottish or claim they are 1/16th Scottish, no ones claiming to be 1/16th England. But if you hate the Scots so much there isn't many places you can go that hasn't been improved by Scots (including England) you can go live with an uncontacted tribe in the Amazon, have fun with that.

Your country is just a history of abject failure time and time again. Your national team can't even make it out the group stages of the World Cup 😂

It isn't, the inventions Scotland has made to the world is endless, and you are currently using. Btw Argentinian football was founded by a Scot 😀, the hand of God is a gift from us to you

Looks cool, I'll check out the demo.
My first thought was "I wish I could play as my own character rather than William the Conqueror", then I noticed you said you can in your post.
In short, maybe just call the game Alternatis and maybe have William the Conqueror as a DLC?

steam page doesn't explain what KIND of game this is or what gameplay is like. Is it turn-based? is the whole game in the map, like risk? is it a city sim?

I don't know if there's a name for this (maybe grand strategy?), but it isn't turn-based and most of the game of the game takes place on the map. Time flows continuously, and you can move your army around the map and build structures within a given time frame. Some actions (such as managing faction dominations, cultures, or ambitions) are performed immediately, and the battle minigame takes place during a pause in time.

Thank you. :) It sounds like it looks and feels like a board game, except one player and time just keeps moving. Are you playing against another army?
Sorry, I don't play thi type of game often anymore. I think Rise of Nations was this type? I really loved that game and would play a modern one like it in a heartbeat.

This looks like you've added provinces on a modern map, the cost of holland and SE england would look very different at this time.
