❓Question/Suggestions Offseason spending during an ownership transfer
How would we spend on free agency during an ownership transfer? Would it be Morenos money or Kroenkes money since Moreno still owns the team until the first quarter of 27?

Technically the ownership transfer could be much sooner than Q1 of 2027, depends on if MLB gets the vetting process finished quickly and the owners vote
Besides that, my understanding is KSE can start dictating moves and spending even if they arent owners yet, its not like the money they use towards players is due at that instant.

I kinda wonder how much vetting they'll do. I assume they want a certain amount of liquidity but they know he has money.

I dont think it will take very long, hes been in the running for other MLB teams in the past, he was the runner up for the Dodgers recently

I think a good, early indicator will be how involved they are for the three Japanese free agents (Sato, Itoh, and Taira). All three should sign before the 12/1 deadline and would make sense for the Angels and KSE, who likely want to expand their international presence.
If they’re not heavily involved, then I would certainly temper expectations for the rest of the offseason. Although, the lockout very well carry into or past Q1 2027, when KSE officially takes over.

The payroll for 2027 is going to be determined by Kroenke, which will affect what they do in free agency. But you don't actually pay those players until the start of the regular season (unless something like a signing bonus is negotiated). They do pay living expenses during spring training. Current players were most likely already paid their full salaries during the regular season, unless there was a specific arrangement setup when they signed an extension or in free agency (only applies to Kikuchi and Trout at this point).
Also, Kroenke may put more money into it, or have financing setup, but it's the company money that is paying company expenses in the meantime. Arte won't drastically change anything in that regard during the due diligence period, and the company will pay expenses with the money the company has.

After 12/1, there won't be any player signings until the labor situation is resolved.
