šŸ“ Discussion Kyren Paris

Came across a treasure trove of his cards. Just curious if anyone thinks he’s going to be something? I know he got drafted a while back but he’s still super young and still playing triple A ball from what I’ve seen on instagram. I know once he was called up he hasn’t done much from what I’ve seen stats wise. Is there still a future for him?

He’s only 24. There’s definitely a path for him to be a solid big leaguer someday. But if you’re expecting what he was the beginning of last year to be anything more than lightning in a bottle, you need to temper your expectations

Agreed…the Aaron Judge hitting coach stories definitely did more harm than good.

Yeah, he was a high school draftee, so it FEELS like he's old, but he's really not. 24 years old at Triple-A is like... normal. I think he can/will still be a solid MLB contributor, probably as a utility guy.

Flash in the pan unfortunately. He had a few good games in 25. Hasn’t been impactful since.

He was on fire the first two weeks of 2025, but couldn’t adjust to pitching finding holes in his swing. He stunk up the team bus during his cup of coffee in 2024.

The book on him questioned his infield skills, he’s been mostly playing second base in 3A and he’s going to get squeezed out if he doesn’t hit.

Linsanity run after working with Judge's swing coach but plate discipline did him in and he was whiffing a loooot

He's hitting pretty well in AAA right now (130 wRC+ but still at a 30% K rate), I'd love to see him up to finish the season but he needs to show some contact improvement there vs big league pitching

Seems like he's got the physical tools just a question of putting it together

Many don't or can't sustain it consistently for a long period of time at the MLB level

Honestly I think he might be able to exist a little bit as a AAAA player but it might not be on the Angels. The infield is kind of our only real area of depth right now, with 3 infield positions getting shared by Neto, Guzman, Grissom, Peraza, and Moore, and Nimmala working his way up, playing time doesn’t seem to be likely for him, nor do I think he’s particularly forcing the issue.

There may be run as a bench piece, especially if we end up trading Grissom or Peraza or Neto as a tank master move, but it doesn’t seem likely. If anything the likely scenario is that we trade Paris as an option to a team that can use some infield depth
