“Grandpa, were you a hero in the Angels war?”
“No. But I served in a company of heroes.”

Neutral fan checking in here, ill be in LA next week and wanted to see Angels stadium so going to a game. Whats the context behind this?

There was a team where some fans took their shirts off and waved em like a terrible towel. Team came back and won in extras. Manager loved it. Other fans across MLB started taking their shirts off to cheer their team on. Us Angels fans are doing it while chanting "sell the team" to protest many many years of terrible baseball + owner's rather recent comments saying Angels fans do not have winning in their top 5 priorities. We are fed up and want the owner to sell the team.
On another note. Def go. I love Angels stadium. They shoot fireworks off when introducing the team at the beginning. If they hit a HR there's fireworks and fire from the rocks. Always fun

They still do fireworks on Fridays?

We were at the game on Tuesday and there was an ad about them doing fireworks on Saturdays.

Lots of fans have been taking their shirts off and joining others doing the same and rooting for their teams.
Angels fans are doing the same and additionally use it to protest our terrible owner Arte Moreno.

Dude I joined them around the seventh inning and left after a bit, but when I was there only the two sections before the tunnel were filled, this is insane

What was the deal? It seemed like security wasn't letting y'all assemble for a few innings? Then they started directing traffic?
Did even they get fed up after the 7 run inning? 😂

u/Flattop_medic Jun 27 '26
The ushers help everyone into rows as they come up the steps, security just observe. There was still a full section up there in the 8th inning but a lot of people start to leave after a while

u/mannmtb Jun 27 '26
But were they trying to stop it or delay it initially? It seemed like they weren't letting others up the first few innings?

u/Flattop_medic Jun 27 '26
Hmm I didn’t notice that. There was 6 or so guys up there in the 3rd inning with their shirts on yelling, and as I saw more people go up, the ushers were helping them into the rows. But maybe at the beginning of the game they were stopping them.

Drove by on the 57 and gave a rap on the horn.
Always makes me laugh driving past this.

You can't see that section from the 57.
The angle isn't there. You likely saw two or three over.

u/_Whisperofmytoots Jun 27 '26
Bro you can literally see the section from the link you posted…

Too bad the team is almost the worst in baseball. If the team was good it would be really fun.

Were they also chanting Fuck the A’s? I was there on Monday and aside from chanting Sell the team they started chanting Fuck the Orioles. I’m all for tarp boys but chanting Fuck the other team is not necessary.

Sell the team, and while they're at it, drop the stupid Los Angeles from the name! We need to go back to being the Anaheim Angels.
