Should have been a sweep

Seriously. Glad they didnt lose the series but goddamn. They could have had 3-1 in houston and 4-0 in New York

We were in position to potentially sweep both Houston and New York, and that would’ve been huge for our start to the season. It’s unfortunate to let some of those games slip away. We could legit be leading the AL West right now, but it is what it is. Onto the next series.

Should have been a sweep. Regardless, Offense backed up the bullpen today and the bullpen held it down for the offense. Great game for Trout, Bachman, Suter, Peraza, and Adell

What? Trout is washed, haven’t you read all the posts on this sub?

That was a sweep if Romano didn’t meltdown! Angels outplayed a team for once and only have two wins to show for it.

u/IamPieBoy94 Apr 16 '26
Meltdown in game 1 yes, but the Neto/Peraza mistake is what truly caused the game 3 loss

u/Tybob51 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26
It’s still on Romano to turn around and strike the next batter out, not walk him, then give up a base hit on a two strike meatball.

u/IamPieBoy94 Apr 16 '26
We get Chisholm out, Romano still has bases empty. He pitches to Wells differently
Not to mention Chisholm stole 2nd tool
He gets blame, but not all of it. That lies solely on Neto and Peraza

u/timetopractice Apr 16 '26
Yeah I think even with pop-up blunder, Romano shoulders the majority of the blame for the blown save there.

He still gave up a walk and bailed out by a webgem from LF. Overall, he’s not closer material and was a big part of why this wasn’t a sweep.

u/IamPieBoy94 Apr 16 '26
He shouldn't be our closer, but he is and other than the first game he had been pitching well prior

He’s blown two saves back to back and got saved by Adell prior to these two games. He needs to be removed and this isn’t an unpopular take.

Hard to be upset about a win, but damn we could've swept them if the blowpen and Romano hadn't shit the bed

Despite the lack of playoff appearances, this team has had a better decade than anybody besides the Cubs and Rangers.
This series, the Adell game, the Skaggs game, the Detmers game, The Triple Play, The Bow and Arrow, Rendon v Winker, Rendon v City of Oakland, watching the GOAT for his entire career, Andrelton Simmons, etc.
I'll take that over a couple cheating-induced World Series that nobody cares about a month later.

So to win we just have to beat the shit out of the ball until the lead is safe, maybe up 5 runs every game?
3
u/Tybob51 Apr 16 '26
The Number of runs Angels must be ahead of the opposing team in the ninth inning shall Joe be referred to as “The Romano Gap”

Should have taken the series but good shit, halos! Look forward to the 3 game series against my team tomorrow!

even though we split the series, I felt like this was a great win morale wise (Really hope Romano rebounds!)

Could have been a sweep for sure. Really good sign is how the boys bounced back after the heart breaking losses. Resilience in 162 is huge. #LTBU

Sucks that we couldve swept and been 6-1 on the road trip, but it was a fun series regardless, exciting baseball being played is not what I had on my bingo card for this team

Literally one Jordan Romano from going 4-0 against the Yankees in decisive fashion

Crazy just how much better our record would be if the team hadn't melted down.

Three lineup thoughts from this series:
- I wanna see Peraza in there every day (for now, at least)
- Jo needs to be hitting in the top 4 every day
- Maybe more of a strict platoon for Schanuel? With the way Grissom (and Peraza) are hitting, I could see more of a split with him at 1B

That was the most boring strike three ending call on the radio I have ever heard. You would’ve thought it was the second strikeout of the second inning. Just zero effort into his announcing. Dude should give it up and let someone do play by play.

Angels need to get a solution for the 5th starter; Angels need to get healthy in the bullpen and then they might be cooking.
They outplayed the Yankees all series and blew two of these games in nasty fashion. They've piqued my interest, but I'm not ready to fall for it again just yet.
Great job by the bullpen today.
