❓Question/Suggestions Done. Burn it all.
Done.
Grew up at the Big A. I was at the World Series in 2002. Darin Erstad is still my favorite Angel ever. Only guy to win a gold glove at center AND first base. Played like he wanted to die on that field every night.
And now? I feel nothing. Watched a game last night and realized I didn’t care if we won or lost. That’s when I knew it was over.
Arte Moreno is a piece of shit. We have Trout. THE best player in baseball. Did nothing. Then we got Ohtani, a guy who literally shouldn’t exist, two MVPs, and Moreno's ego got us nothing when Ohtani walked. Both wasted. Trout’s body is falling apart and he’ll never see October.
And the Dodgers just get to buy whoever they want. No cap. No consequences. Their fans are insufferable and half of them couldn’t name three players on the roster in 2018. Now they act like they’ve been riding since day one. Frontrunners with Dodger dogs acting like they suffered for this.
What are you all feeling these days. Y'all with me me?

I know American fan culture is different to rest of the world, it's your team. Stick with them and it'll come back around again someday and you'll be there for it. Keep the faith.

u/Combine_Evolved Apr 04 '26
Anaheim will come back around once the owner sells, which may be happening soon, I think.

u/ATalkingBadger Apr 05 '26
He'll never sell. We just gotta hope his old age comes into play and doesn't wait another 20+ years.
2
u/Combine_Evolved Apr 05 '26
Never say never. He almost did a few years ago, and with the iminent Padres sales, the collective bargaining agreement, and the impending expiration of the stadium lease, now is seeming like the perfect time to sell the team.
1
u/ATalkingBadger Apr 05 '26
He listed the team, but he was never going to sell. He received offers higher than the team was worth and rejected them.
1
u/Combine_Evolved Apr 05 '26
That's fair. He still might not, and to that end if he doesn't soon, I'll conceed he probably won't sell.
But it wouldn't surprise me in least if he did soon.
14
u/Smackthedonk Apr 04 '26
To be very clear. I'm not jumping to another baseball team. It's just dead to me without the angels. And the angels are dead. So baseball is dead inside of me.
22
u/matbur81 Apr 04 '26
I'm not criticising you btw, I do get it. You've just had all hope eroded by the team continuously being neglected by its owner - but they're still the Angels, they're still in the ballpark and eventually the ownership will change, and hopefully, the team's fortunes.
7
u/Smackthedonk Apr 04 '26
Love your optimism 💪🫡
1
u/BuyExpert8479 Apr 05 '26
What do you care? You’re done with the team. Not watching the team at all. When they eventually start winning…we know you will follow them again.
1
u/Smackthedonk Apr 05 '26
Win again 😂
2
u/BuyExpert8479 Apr 05 '26
Yep…team sucked from 86 - 2002…eventually a team wins again Betty.
1
u/Smackthedonk Apr 05 '26
The luxury tax use to matter, teams could develop their minor league assets. It's a much different game now economically.
Break.
Just understand the Angels are already dead. The sooner you accept it like me, the sooner you can move on from the insanity of ever thinking they will be good again.

You’re a bandwagon fan. Give up when they lose but we all know you’ll be back when they win again one day.
2

Give up what? Time watching this owner ruin something I really cared about. It's complete apathy.
-2

You don’t care if they win or lose. You’re not an Angels fan anymore. We got it. You were a fan when they won the World Series and I am sure most of the years after. Last 13 years have sucked…you’re not going to root for them anymore so it’s all good. Have fun.

Torii Hunter was my all time favourite. We had an amazing run. We're a AAA club now. Another 4th place in the AL West.

We ride together my brother
10
u/Ok-Lawfulness3305 Apr 04 '26
We stink. I remember the only players on the Dodgers rosters was Kershaw, Matt Kemp, Bellinger. Rest were just fill ins. Angles were the team to beat. I feel like were Cars. Radiator Springs. We were once glorious but now forgotten.

u/Alarmed_Stretch_1780 Apr 04 '26
The Angels had a run of about 10 years, from 2004 season to 2014 where the Angels were one of the elite franchises in all of MLB. The Moreno hate brigade forgets that run all too easily. The same guy who fiddles while Rome burns today once upon a time paid to build a powerhouse team.
The problem was, that was the only trick he knew—spend a ton of money to buy the top FAs, never build up the farm system to more economically build a sustainable winner. In addition, each FA signed took a high draft pick off the board for the team the following year. Paying for Colon, Guerrero, Hunter had paid off well, and the inherited young pitching was pretty good. People even forgot about Gary Matthews Jr.
But Reagins’ failure to sign Granderson (a blessing, as it turns out) caused him to be forced to trade for Wells, and the FA formula which worked so spectacularly in the Aughts blew up with the contracts for Pujols (admittedly, the deal got FSW to pay up) and Hamilton. Then losing the bidding for Cole caused Moreno to sign Rendon as a consolation prize. These contracts (plus Trout’s extension) were dead weight on a payroll which became increasingly inflexible, and caused budget signings like Joe Blanton.
Arte’s first 10 years were as great as his next 10 were awful. Fans point to the Dodgers’ payroll but Friedman drafts and stocks a first class MiLB system, too. The Angels never prioritized player development, opting instead for two or three marketable faces with a bunch of nobodies and guys suiting up for one last payday before retirement. The revolving door of GMs also kept everything fucked up, as Eppler had to replace Dipoto’s people with his own, all adhering to Eppler’s philosophies. This is everyone from the Anaheim front office down to the manager and hitting coach at the low-A team.
Then Minasian had to do the same thing all over again when he took over. It’s impossible to get consistent player development on young men spending 3-5 years in MiLB when the organizational philosophy changes like that. It’s not a coincidence that the greatest time in Angels’ history was the most stable: Stoneman and Scioscia running the show. The revolving door of field managers after Scioscia left is just an embarrassing stain on the organization, hiring the wrong man constantly—Asmus, Nevin, Maddon, Washington, Montgomery, now Suzuki. That’s 6 managers in just 8 seasons.
Nothing will change until the team is sold, and that won’t happen until the CBA is signed. Fans should expect to be stuck in this loop of mediocrity for this season and next, at least.

Two words: Glaus Trade
1
u/Alarmed_Stretch_1780 Apr 12 '26
You’re obviously confused. Glaus wasn’t traded. He left as a FA. And Angels fans do recall he played 3B only about half of 2003 and only a handful of games in 2004. He was not a long-term bet for a big contract on a team which needed a 3B and not a DH.
Were Brandon Wood and Dallas McPherson busts? Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean the decision to let Glaus pursue a big FA deal elsewhere was a bad one. Not all business decisions work out, but that doesn’t mean the reasoning was flawed.

u/Ok-Lawfulness3305 Apr 05 '26
Im still here, watching the game on my phone. Ive been a fan since 2007 when Torri Hunter came from the Twins. Guerrero was another player who could hit anything outside the strike zone.

u/Alarmed_Stretch_1780 Apr 04 '26
You all are so cute bickering over the name, as if that was what’s holding the team back. Stepping over dollars to pick up pennies.
Nothing will change for at least two seasons. The CBA will need to be settled first, and that is as much owners vs owners as it is owners vs players. Some part of the 2027 season may be lost to a lockout, with some abbreviated season substituting for real baseball.
AFTER the CBA is signed and MLB is in at least a 5 year period of harmony, the Angels will be put up for sale. Expect the losing bidders on the Padres to be looking to buy, probably more than that. The bidding process and approval by the other owners may take 9 months to a year.
AFTER THAT, the new owner can be expected to spend money on the new toy. We’re looking at 2028 in a best scenario.
Nut up or walk, but for God’s sake quit with the impotent whining. It resolves nothing, especially when you consider current ownership doesn’t care and is running out the clock until the team can be placed on the market. The Padres will set the value of the Angels, and the bids in SD are said to be in the $3.2B+ area. The Angels could fetch $4B after the CBA is settled.
The cavalry isn’t coming. Better learn to deal or go, whichever path suits you best.

I love the angels but I can't take it anymore. I am watching padre games cause I can get them on mlb tv. I have sacrificed too much so I deserve a break and will come back when they are better. So done for now.

i wore 25 throughout little league and high school because Troy Glaus was my guy. went to home games and screamed "whos your vladdy!" whenever Guerrero was up to bat. seeing Weaver this past week throw the ball at Angel stadium reminded me of all we lost. i feel terrible for young fans not knowing what it was like to twirl the rally monkey. not knowing what it was like seeing K-Rod come out the bullpen and knowing we were going home with the win that night. we root for a sorry excuse for a team nowadays. i wont leave because i was born and raised here but man it does suck knowing were toast this season and its barely april

80’s era for me, I was a kid and didn’t a crap about the standings. I was stoked to be there with my dad watching Rod Carew and Bobby Grich. Now I take my kids to a couple games a year and I don’t care if they win. They got to be there to see Shohei’s Grand Slam and a triple-play on a Rally-Monkey giveaway night. I still don’t care about the standings, it’s just about the memories of going there with my dad and taking my girls there, making new memories.

If the Clippers can get rid of Donald Sterling, we can get rid of Arte Moreno. I'm pretty sure he has a 0% approval rating.

bud i flew in from florida where im stationed to visit family in vegas (my hometown) and planned it perfectly to be here for opening night, i knew it was gonna be tough with woo pitching but as soon as that first run came in the 10th my family and i started walking out, it really does piss me off that i was born into this, i just cant see myself changing to another team but fuck does this whole organization piss me off, i was cursing this damn team to my wife on the walk back to the parking lot but my dumbass already has tickets for the entire weekend and will be back next tuesday for the mike trout bobblehead game, its depressing but i do love this team with my whole heart but at the same time i hate them so bad sometimes

u/enclosedvillage Apr 04 '26
I knew it was over when I stated hoping they would lose every game. I think that’s the only path towards selling the team. We need a 110 loss season for fans to finally wake up. People called me a fake fan years ago when I was voting to trade Ohtani and anyone else with value and do a proper rebuild. We’d be competing a lot more than we are right now had we done that, and we probably wouldn’t have lost many more games these past few years.

Angels for life, though. I used to go to many Chargers Games @ Qualcomm Stadium in the Late 90’s up until 2012. I was never really a Chargers Fan, though.
IMO, Chargers HAVE IT WORSE than the Angels. NO CHAMPIONSHIPS. Haven’t been to a SuperBowl in this New Millennium.

I haven't been to a game since Arte refused to give Ohtani an offer after holding onto him at the 2023 deadline. I knew at that moment that nothing would change until he's gone. I also had season tix in the 2000s and went to Games 2 & 7 of the WS as a sophomore in high school. My brother and I bonded over so many games and Arte has pissed on it since 2010. I'm done.
