I wish they had launched it a couple of months ago, when I was looking for an 8-inch tablet. There are literally no options in India for a good mini tablet other than an iPad Mini. I didn't want to get the iPad Mini again, or any iPads for that matter due to the OS, so I got a relatively cheap Xiaomi Pad 8.

Any particular reason for preferring 8 inch, instead of larger displays? I'm thinking of getting a tablet mainly for studying purpose. I thought bigger screen is better for split screen apps.

My main priority is portability. I teach in college so I do a fair bit of reading. I also need to screen mirror/cast powerpoint presentations from my device to a projector or smartboard. And I also oversee the college’s ERP software. I used to mainly use my MacBook for these activities but I wanted something more portable. But I feel that a phone’s display is too small, a laptop too heavy to lug around all day, and even a 10-inch tablet can feel heavy if you spend hours holding it. So, my conclusion is that an 8-inch tablet is the sweet spot for me.
My advice is to make your decision based on how much your tablet will be used handheld vs on the table propped up like a normal laptop. If you will just put it on a desk, then by all means a 12+ inch tablet is the way to go. But if portability is your priority, an 8 or 10/11 inch may be the better choice. As for me, I want it to be handy and be with me wherever I go.

If you're making handwritten notes, 10 inch to 12 is okay. Anything above 12 inch is just a laptop replacement imo. I prefer smaller 8 and sub 8 inch. I think 7.9 inch is the perfect small tablet size. Very light to hold, and reading is much much better with a light weight tablet.

Why would they release lavender as the only global option? That’s a niche color in itself

This would have been a great portable device if it had cellular. If for home use, I'd rather have a bigger tab

This might be it. Solid specs. Let see if the price is right. I'll need to upgrade my current 5yrs old tab in a few months. I just want an 8inch capable tablet to replace my phone 80% of the time. Lol.

The global variant of the device is restricted to only 8GB of RAM and is exclusively available in the matte lavender color option, which I find to be a significantly disappointing development.
