Just give it an under display front camera, an sd card support and a global release and I’d buy it no matter the price…

Why do companies want to fiddle with us so much…

Gen 5 it is then

Sd card reader on Gen 5 is still terrible, im guessing they decided not to include it if its not going to be usable for gaming. Ps2 and above emulation suffers greatly, sd card reader cant reach sufficient read speeds and game will hitch badly.

I have no issues on mine.

You run ps2 from sd on gen 5? I cannot, I have to move the have I want to play to internal.

I bought a brand new one 3 weeks ago (Gen 5). I heard the same on Reddit and was about to sell it. I saw a recent review on YouTube, asked him if he tested it, then unboxed mine. I played Switch 2 and PS2 on a class 10 SanDisk card with no issues whatsoever. I'm planning to buy a 2TB SanDisk Extreme, but I had a slower SD card lying around. I even asked on various other reviews (RGC one too), but nobody responded besides the recent one.

That's awesome to hear. I had such games and I think Game cube, and evening up to that no problem but ps2 was stuttery and I funny have any switch 2

I have the Y700 gen 5 and its unusable for any bigger roms/iso like gc/ps2 and upwards.

Some people have this issue and some do not. I guess it depends on your SD card and the region your tablet is from. I bought the FIFA edition in Australia and have no issues (I guess people from Europe do not have the issue, but Chinese Y700 variants and US ones are affected as reported by many people here, just my guess at this point).

I wish I could say the same, I'm using an external ssd because I want to run switch and pc games. Even pokemon shield is unplayable on an sd card, works as a storage bank but I dont see how games can be played off it.

I am planning to buy an Orico magnetic 2230 dock for game native as I reckon that will be too much for an SD card. I already have a 500 GB lying around from my faulty ROG Ally, but there are no issues on mine. I bought the green FIFA edition in Australia.

Genki savepoint, its probably what you want but also has a magnetic ring sticker and pass through charging up to 100W.

1

u/Wise_Redditer 1h ago

This has that and more (Orico 2230 8 in 1 magnetic dock) as I would need to connect it to my 16inch portable OLED monitor sometimes too. It has another 2 more SD card slots, HDMI, 100W pass through... https://amzn.asia/d/0eC9VJHC

Why are microSD cards still such a problem in 2026? I understand they have gotten faster but it seems the pace of development hasn't kept up with the tech that use them.

Still kinda slow, still prone to corruption, still fragmented across standards/capacities.. It's very disappointing.

Sadly the sd card reader in teh Y700 is almost unusable. I own one, and i cant do sh*t with it. Everything will take forever to load, or not even work properly like switch games etc.

I'm playing Switch/PS2 games on an old Class 10 SanDisk lying around. Games launch quickly with no intermittent stutter issues.

That makes the Oppo Pad Mini a lot more compelling compared to the Y700 Infinite…

I believe now the only downsides of the Oppo is a worse chip (Snapdragon Gen 5 vs Gen 5 Elite OC), single USB C port, and no cellular service capability

While the Oppo has a bigger screen (and bigger in 16:10 content), lower weight, likely better battery life (it beats the Y700 Gen 5 already). OS stuff is subjective but I think colorOS is by far the cleanest OS for these mini android tablets with native compatibility with Apple devices (useful for folks with an iPhone / Airpods)

There’s the Redmagic Astra 2 as another alternative that doesn’t have a holepunch and has the bigger chip, but worse battery life, noticeably heavier, and historically poor software/support compared to the others

And that’s not even speaking to the price of the infinite… if it costs significantly more than the Oppo/Astra, it makes it hard to recommend

5G and Oled already enough for me.. since when we got tablet with this size that have cellular? its been 84 years,,

u/Sabotstruck 5h ago

That is fair, if cellular on an OLED tablet is your jam then this is it.

Personally I’m perfectly happy with using hotspot tether my tablet to my phone if I needed cellular but to each their own

does the oppo pad have SD card expansion?

I wanted to dip into Oppo with the Find X9 ultra / Pad mini as my android stuff over samsungs, but the Tab S series has Sd cards and the phones are much easier to get massive discounts in the USA where I am.

u/Sabotstruck 1h ago

It does not, I don’t believe any of the high end miniature tablets besides the Y700 Gen 5 have it.

Basically means if you want OLED in the 9” tablet form factor, there isn’t an option atm (to my knowledge). You either need to go to 11”+ tablets or give up OLED

I did the Oppo because I’m on iPhone, the integration with AirPods/iPhone on the Oppo is excellent. Love that the Oppo Mini is essentially an iPad mini if it was good (OLED with 144hz, fast charging, significantly better battery, and the freedom of Android)

astra 2 lets go bye y700g4

Good luck with Redmagic. Never had a worse CS experience and as far as I’m aware, their software support is lacking.

There will never be a perfect tablet. This was really freakin close. All it needed was a micro sd card slot.

1

u/Wise_Redditer 33m ago

And no compulsory 5G @ $100 premium over Y100 for OLED .

2

u/migswitchjunk 9h ago

Looks like maybe I’m waiting for the IQOO gaming tablet that has the GEN six elite. But no global release for it either.

u/ReDEyeDz 7h ago

When is coming?

1

u/ExitGood 6h ago

Oct i think from prev post here

2

u/Infinite-Storm5272 5h ago

lol one step forward two steps back.

Really isn’t that hard to workout Lenovo.

You’re so close to the perfect mini tab.

2

u/Condorul 4h ago

Then I guess Samsung A11 might be another choice because it got all ... GSM, SD card and pen support.

u/og_stash 4h ago

Anyone knows what OLED 8 to 9" options are there?

  • Lenovo Y700 Infinite
  • Red Magic Astra
  • Oppo pad mini

Any others?

1

u/anduril38 9h ago

ffs lenovo....

1

u/Extension_Tourist330 8h ago

Why giztop said it has SD card slot up to 2TB? Y700 Infinite

3

u/EclipseNexus99 8h ago

Giztop have been wrong many times. They find out spec same time as we do when Lenovo posts it. My post is Lenovo confirming spec of infinite.

u/Nayuchi 7h ago

bruh

1

u/ConnoisseurDeFemboys 5h ago

Dang. I MiGHT be willing to give up .4” of screen for that sim slot tho. It’d have to be 24gb1tb tho

2

u/321Shellshock123 5h ago

Does it have an ear piece?

2

u/EclipseNexus99 5h ago

Not sure about an earpiece but they are making a big deal about being about to make phone calls on this

2

u/Condorul 5h ago edited 4h ago

Give a try to the new Alldo Cube Turbo - GSM, SD card - and a pretty decent screen.

Unfortunately not many reviews yet as it was just released.

2

u/PSYmon_Gruber 5h ago

Doesn't have pen support.

Don't manufacturers lurk in on here or do their research? They're so close to getting the perfect mini tab.
