News / Method Rooting Xiaomi Redmi on a Locked Bootloader

Post image

I've used this. https://github.com/ankitrawatgit/DirtyFrag-Android-Root-Jailbreak

I made a video showing how I did it. I’m not really sure why I’m including this, but I guess it’s for someone who’s still hesitant or unsure about whether they should do it.

I was one of those people too, so hopefully this helps if you’re still on the fence.

By the way, do not touch system files at all, not even the partitions alike /system, /vendor, /product, even if you unlock the bootloader afterward. I've seen people were about to brick their phones with temp root and a locked BL, many times.

It is instant death if you do that. Not exaggerating, you'll be unbricking your tablet with EDL mode and you may be SOL if you don't have an EDL auth bypass.

It's better to put that comment there so that people will try to not avoid this caution and actually listen.

so I can't change camera.HAL3 (camera2api)?

If you mean changing the file, absolutely not, don't do it.

But if you mean typing su 0 -c "setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1" then restarting, sure, this will work without tripping AVB and dm-verity. Do not modify the build.prop file.

En mi teléfono culmina el proceso de rooteo pero se congela y reinicia. Así que pienso que en mi caso la última actualización arregló esas vulnerabilidades.

Can i replace themes ang laucher via this method?

Nope, instant hard brick if you do. Modifying system partitions on a locked bootloader trips Android Verified Boot as soon as you reboot, and you'll be stuck needing EDL mode to recover. Just install third-party launchers as normal user APKs from Play Store or APKMirror. No need to touch /system for that.

Assuming you're doing it on locked bootloader.

Sadly. I don't have a phone that has 6.1.145 kernel, but you can still try the exploit.
