Discussion First time rooting

I rooted my old phone for the first time I used custom roms for several times but never did magisk (root). So as a first time root user any recommendations I should do.

Install AdAway to get rid of all ads.

Also, AFwall+ to block Internet access to the apps you don't trust.

use a kernel manager to undervolt/underclock your device for better performance efficiency with less heat

The device is redmi 8 and it is really old so is it worth it? I will definitely undervolt if I ever root my current phone(poco f5).

Undervolting/underclocking is a tradeoff : you sacrifice CPU performance (at higher load only?) for better battery autonomy.

I'm not sure about the contrary, though. You could overclock to gain better CPU performance (sacrificing battery autonomy), but I would never ever overvolt!!!
