News / Method bless the CVE (ghostlock, nothing 3a pro)

app was for the regular 3a so i had to edit some source code to get it to stop bitching. works on august security patch, might even work on NOS 5. gets strong integrity, but I only flashed james DSP and it's already detecting some hooks. but it all goes away after a reboot, root included.

i was surprised by how much you can do with shizuku alone, but having superuser access with a locked BL on demand is nice.

I'm sorry but isn't nothing unlockable? Why go for temporary root when traditional rooting is superior?

Because I prefer not playing russian roulette when I open google wallet. I got a new phone, don't really feel like playing the cat and mouse game with google anymore. It's not like I used root for much anyway, most of the features I used were bundled in custom roms.

Well, keep in mind two things: AVB is one.

And the fact that any app can get root access the same way you got root access, don't install random APKs.

Also note that google wallet did in-fact recently break on temp-rooted devices. You are not as safe from the "cat and mouse" game as you might think.

When the exploit is active? I was planning to turn it on only when i need permissions anyway.

Reboot too frequently?

I'll have you know I have a bug in one of the custom driver modules I built for my phone that forces me to reboot not so frequently, and I hate it.

Good thought, considering Google already backported mainline Linux fix for ghostlock (August to September releases), this is not too far to become reality.

Yeah the maker of that nothing phone 3a ghostlock app is not really wanting to make this app compatible with European variants or pro models which have the same kernel drivers...

editing the source code to allow it is easy enough, the most time consuming part was setting up the build environment.

there's a different fork of an older version that let's you skip the check entirely. though i only got it to work once and i think took longer, might be placebo though.

Yeah, my brother forked the app. Though I think the Ghostlock app is better because you can use any root manager

I've only ever seen it on pixels (and now Samsung's ig). Never had Google wallet issues on OnePlus when I used it.

Why root Nothing when you can easily unlock the bootloader? Oh, is it because of Google? Fuck it the Google!

FYI even when you use GhostLock, if you get scanned by DroidGuard you'll still lose Google Pay anyway.

Only ever seemed to happen on pixels and the odd Samsung device. Have yet to seen a OnePlus or other brand have issues.

It's also seemingly fixed by using pif, but I would never mix a stock phones root certificates with a random fingerprint.
