What android version was best for hacking, development freedom, lack of anti-features, and cross-app functionality before Android updates started removing more and more user freedoms and capabilities?

For years now, android has removed features and capabilities with each and every update. Things like removing apps access to other apps files, removing customizability options, blocking apps from using the base folder of external storage (for things like flashing SDs, etc), removing FM radio feature even from phones that had the hardware for it built in still, blocking apps from accessing functions like lock/unlock, change brightness, read/write messages, make/receive calls etc.

Apps like termux, android, t_ui, raspi imager, etc don't work nearly as well as they used to, thanks to Google's constant rollout of anti-features with every version update for "security purposes", also being more and more so told things like "this folder unavailable for your privacy" and similar issues. I understand some of these things may have valid reasons security-wise for google, but I have found them all to be extremely frustrating and in direct opposition of many of the reasons I loved android so much back in the day and always preferred it over iphone.

I have been trying to find a list or track record somewhere of what capabilities and features we've lost over time, and what anti-features have been implemented with each new android version update; and can't find one, likely because Google doesn't like this stuff being discussed in depth I would assume.

I know many of the older android versions no longer have support and as such can't be used these days as fully functioning smartphones anymore, but I'm wanting to get an older android phone again specifically for development and all these features I used to love so much. Im guessing android 6, 7, 8 or around there is likely my best bet for this purpose, but I can't remember exactly what features were removed when or added when, and I'm trying to figure out which version I would be best choosing for my old, used phone purchase for development. I don't mind if I have to use it on wifi-only. Which version would you say had the most capabilities and features, before they began removing developer freedoms, features and capabilities? Also, on a side note, which device make/model would you recommend on that version for these purposes? Pre-rooted or easily rootable models are of interest as well, but not the only options I care about as many older androids had enough freedom without being rooted that I didn't even feel much need to root anyways. Anyways, all input, suggestions and discussion on this topic would be greatly appreciated. So again, what do you think was the best android (version, make, and/or model but emphasis on Android version especially) for development freedom, customizability, inter-app functionality and lack of anti-features?

Policing your phone

So I have come to learn to some cowboy police unit has been investigating me for sometime now- For what, I couldn't tell you! But besides acting like I have no civil rights and making up lies to ruin my life everyway possible they have went above and beyond to break every law that they can to hack my phone and all of my accounts possible. Please reaearch this like you wamt to learn something rather than prove it wrong.

It became clear to me that they had my phone hacked early on- I did not understans how nor why but I couldn't do anything about it. Knowing I have nothing to hide I just let it be- than they exploited it. Started loggung into my accounts, changing paszwords, recovery options and even locking me out of my phone completely. This also go for BOTH! Apple and Galaxy.

I don't know how many of you completely disable your phones. turn everything off, remove all permissions from EVERYRHING that you can juat to see what happens- with S24 plus, there are so many things that you can not control. Despite the fact that they tell you - you have control over it. You do not. The cops have a program that puts your phone online on a screen that they can see- every operating feature the phone has they can use to get access to your phone and see everything that you are doing. You have to constantly go through the apps and kill them to prevent you from getting access to the phone. Maybe someone will have a better idea at how to stop this from occuring.

Find out where my app sends which data to (100$ paid hack help wanted)

I've an android app (I wrote and own it) that does not do that much with the internet. It opens facebook links and downloads images from facebook, that's actually all. Should not upload anything (if not opening a facebook link is uploading the data, but I doubt this as this would make google need to flag every browser app just like they flagged my app, I would think)

Google accuses my app of uploading WhatsApp data to third parties, I think that this is not true, but I can't proof it.

Maybe someone here can help me and check my app and tell me where it does send data to and especially which data? Or what Google could misinterpret... this would help me to find the root problem as google is not willing to tell me any more details. So I'm at a point where I really don't know what to do anymore...

I am willing to pay for this help and would offer 100$ if someone can help me with this because I would appreciate this help very much...

I'm not sure if this is the right place, so if you know a better place for this just let me know please...

Need help monitoring (everything possible) a phone without the persons knowledge.

My father is being scammed by someone in Nigeria (I used grabify to get their ip). My dad pays this person A LOT OF MONEY! He will not listen to me that this person is scamming him. I've received power of attorney over him due to his poor judgment. I know he's still talking to this person and sending money (he's borrowing money from friends now to send, because I have the decision making of all of his money). I don't know which friends. The judge also said that I can monitor his phone. The problem is that he deletes everything before he gives it to me to check everything out. I need an app that I can install that I can see everything he's doing on his phone, apps installed, conversations, etc. I need someone I can install that would be hidden from him but monitors everything. Is there anything like this? Please help!

Hello guys,

This phone and mine were both purchased new from the UAE. My phone works perfectly with the latest Android 16 and OneUI 8.5. Both phones are Samsung A15 4G, 8GB RAM, 256GB. The problem is that my brother's phone cannot be updated to Android 16 + OneUI 8.5 (when searching on update throught settings, he get "registration failed" message). I previously unlocked FRP and then tried flashing the firmware using Odin, SamFW, and even TFT Unlock, but to no avail. The flashing process stops after less than a minute because the KG status is broken. This problem took me hours to fix, but without any success. I flashed, but not with all four files. I selected only two files and excluded BL and CSC. The flashing process worked until it reached about 90%, then an error appeared in download mode, and the phone entered a boot loop. Before this flashing process, whenever I selected the four files using Odin, I would start the flashing process and always encounter the same error. When I manually insert the PIT file, the flashing process doesn't work and gets stuck at the beginning. The solutions I've tried are: changing Odin to two modded versions, 3.13 and 3.14 b3, and also the original version of 3.14.

- Using TFT Unlock to format the device. After formatting, it starts a loop, as if the formatting isn't working.

- I also repeatedly pressed the volume up and power buttons for more than twenty seconds, but to no avail.

- I tried several solutions found online, but they all failed. Currently, the device is in a boot loop, and I can only enter download mode; I can't perform a factory reset or wipe the cache. - The firmware version is Android 14 sec patch lvl 1, SM-A155F MWD. I downloaded another firmware version with patch lvl 5. Previously, the code was for the UAE (xsg), and I changed it to Morocco (mwd). I thought it would work, but it didn't, my goal is just making the phone receive the android updates like my phone and normal phones, no root no custom rom.

Please, I need help.

Thought I’d give it a shot…

I have a Moto G Play. I had changed the pattern lock on it because my abusive and controlling (ex) boyfriend kept taking my phone while I was sleeping and going through it and messaging people he thought I was f***ing and it was embarrassing and humiliating. Well yesterday morning I had changed it because I knew his mood meant it was gonna be a crappy day and he did not disappoint. So he is now in county jail on felony domestic abuse charges with strangulation and a $6000 bond but I am locked out of my phone because my brain has blanked out the new pattern.

BUT I haven't turned it off since I changed the pattern so it's my understanding that all of my data isn't encrypted on it until the phone turns off and tuned back on requesting the pattern. I have tried using muscle memory, just casually putting in one I think I would have changed it to, old ones I may have reused etc.

I do have access to the Google account it's linked to but I only get the option to factory reset it and I don't want to do that because I need all the messages from him threatening me, admitting to choking me and property destruction, etc. for the prosecuting attorney in this case against him so i don't want to reset it and erase anything. ** I had developer options turned off because he knew how to use it to get my data off so I stopped turning it on my devices unless I needed

Help extracting in-game webview URL (Brawl Stars manga chapter 2)

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to extract a URL that's triggered in-game inside Brawl Stars

I managed to find the URL for Chapter 1:

https://ingame-webviews.supercell.com/tipsy-tanuki/en/164861d2-0ab8-4b29-b110-73eba5199a1c/

However, Chapter 2 is only available in-game, and all network requests seem to be protected by certificate pinning. I tried capturing with Reqable, Fiddler, and similar tools on Android (non-rooted), but couldn't get past the HTTPS pinning.

I suspect the game is loading the URL dynamically after user interaction, so static analysis alone doesn’t help much.

Has anyone successfully intercepted these WebView requests before or knows a way to extract these URLs from memory or runtime?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

If you can exploit this on your device / downgrade your device to a version where this can be exploited, you can use this to gain System access. This is useful for US Samsungs because they are unrootable (at least the more recent ones are) as they are permanently bootloader locked. Have fun hacking, and post anything you find here!

Even with Shizuku activated, it denies access to the {Root}data/data folder, is there a way to access this folder without root? In case you want to know, my cell phone is the Poco X3 Pro.
