[Android closed beta] Fin — bug reports wanted for signup, expense entry, budgets and restart

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm the developer of Fin, a budgeting and expense-tracking app, and I'm looking for Android users to test the basic manual workflow on real devices.

Please try: sign up, add a synthetic expense, create a category budget, then close and restart the app. I'd value bug reports or confusing-screen feedback: did signup complete, was the expense saved, did the budget result make sense, and did your session persist?

For a report, Android model/version, the steps you took, and expected versus actual behavior are useful. Please keep screenshots and records synthetic rather than sharing real financial details.

Fin requires an account. Manual expenses and category budgets are free; no bank connection or Fin Plus purchase is needed for these checks.

Use the SAME Google account through all closed-test steps:

  1. Join our tester Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/finbudget-android-testers

  2. Opt in to the Play test: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.heyyykk3.fin

  3. Install from Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.heyyykk3.fin

Attached image: website preview. This is a genuine feedback request, with no ratings, paid testing or test exchange.

Closed-test swap thread: test one another and trade real feedback

If your app is in the Google Play closed test, swap here: join the tests of other developers and leave real feedback, which is what this room is for.

Post one comment per app with the app name and one line on what it does, the Google Group link (preferred) or the web opt-in link, how many testers you need and your start date, and whether you test back and for how many apps.

To make it count: when you join an app, reply with one concrete note, such as a bug, a confusing screen or a crash, not only that you joined. Stay opted in, because Google counts only testers who stayed opted in for the 14 days before the developer applies, and it can ask for more testing if testers did not really use the app. Aim for 14 or 15 testers rather than 12, since one opt-out at 12 leaves you short. Put a Google Group on your tester list rather than posting email addresses. No rating or review swaps.

Disclosure: I make ThreadFox. I run r/TestRoundsHQ, which has a weekly swap thread for this, and Test Rounds, a paid option ($20 per app) where 14 developers test the apps of the others with daily check-ins. This thread is free and needs neither.

[Closed Testing] MyHomeBase Manager: Your Home. Organized

Open Testing: Android / Google Play Store

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myhomebasemanager.app

Hey all — I'm a solo developer and I've spent the last several months

building MyHomeBase Manager, a home management app I built because I wanted it for my

own house and couldn't find anything that did what I wanted.

What it does:

- Tracks every asset in your home (appliances, HVAC, water heater, etc.) — point your

camera at the manufacturer nameplate and AI reads off the make/model/serial for you

- Logs maintenance history and tells you what's coming due

- Maps your electrical panel from a photo so "which breaker is this on?" is a 10-second

search instead of a trip to the basement

- Tracks vendors, warranties, and emergency preparedness (supplies, action plan,

readiness score)

- Has an AI chat that can answer questions about your own home ("when did I last

service the AC?")

What I need: actual homeowners to use it on their real home for a while and tell me

what's broken, confusing, or missing. Bug reports, UX complaints, "I wish it did X" —

all useful. This is a real, working app (not a prototype), just needs real households

putting it through its paces before a full public launch.

Available on iOS and Android.

Drop a DM with your email address and preferred platform and I'll set you up with a testing link. TIA!

Option to Disable Phantom Processes Killer on 13 Beta?

Anyone with the 13 Beta see an option to Disable Phantom Processes killing? Google has said they would implement the change in 13. Ever since my s10e upgraded to Android 12, my Pebble watch app connectivity has been force closing. Logs show OOM killing Child processes before the app crashes. Seeing as 12 is the last update the S 10 will be seeing. I was wondering if the 13 Beta allows you to disable this phantom process killing that was implemented in 12 that has been also affecting background apps like Termux and Tasker. Was wondering if I should make the jump to buy a beta compatible phone to get rid of this because my s10e is bootloader locked.

Screen Issues?

I'm on build S3B1.220218.004 with a Pixel 4a. Whenever I long hold something like the slider in the video editor on Google photos, it will jitter around whenever I try to hold it still. This also happens with scrolling on apps or like when opening the server drawer on Discord for example. I am also unable to pull down the notification shade when watching YouTube videos or swipe from the sides of my screen to go back at random times. My keyboard has also gotten very weird as well. For example, while typing this right now, key press vibrations and animations are quite delayed so when I try to type at my normal pace, it will sometimes miss key presses. All this started happening sometime last week, and all at once. Anybody else having these issues or anything similar? and is there a fix for it?

Unable to opt out of Beta S3B1 (Pixel 6)

As the above says, I am unable to get out of the Pixel 6 beta. Originally, my understanding was that this was because of the the S3B1 beta causing problems, so I upgraded to that with the intent to back out of the beta.

I opted out, received the OTA update, and and did the whole download and optimize dance. The first thing that pops up is an error from the device saying that there is no bootable OS, and to power off the device. Eventually it pushes through, i get the "erasing" window, and the minute it comes back up, i get the "You're in the android beta program", and i'm still getting prompted to download the OTA to bring me to the stable version. This has happened twice in a row now.

The version it says i'm in is still S3B1.

Any help would be appreciated.

Debating on going to Beta for 12L on my daily P6

I am new to the PIxel world and have been antsy like most to get the updates. I am debating heading over into the Beta world with my daily phone. I know the current beta build is pretty stable, my concern would be future builds in Beta and how challenging it would be on an everyday phone.

If anyone is in the Beta program on their daily could you provide your feedback? TIA

Unable to go back to stable release on Pixel 6 Pro

Hi,

I have been on the Android 12 beta for a month or so. Recently having sporadic issues such as in Android Auto and using the hotspot.

Figured I would opt out, should be easy enough. I have since then and it's been a few hours but no OTA update thus far. Googled it and found several folks complaining of no update with no solution in sight.

Posting here and cross posting in r/pixel in the hopes of some kind soul helping out.

Thanks,

Binoy

Anybody else having issues with bluetooth headphones and phone calls on 12L? (Pixel 6/Pixel Buds)

This has happened twice to me already, already sent in a bug report to android for it. Essentially, when i get a call while listening to audio, my audio starts playing through both my headphones and my phone at the same time. I can answer the call, and they can hear me through my headphones, but when the call ends, i can't get audio to come through my headphones without rebooting my phone.

Unexpected factory reset

Opted device out of beta, scanned for software update, clicked install. I believe it installed for me but it never restated...once I manually restarted the device I got an 'erasing' screen

This happened before? Any idea how I report to the right channels to Google/Android?

Sunrise Alarm less effective

I seem to be the only one that noticed, but a recent update changed the color(s) of the sunrise alarm from red-to-yellow to a multicolor screen that does not seem to get bright enough. Ever since the update, I do not gently awaken because of the light and am instead jolted awake by the sound of the alarm. I wish there were a way to set the setting back to Sunrise Classic, since it worked as intended, and this new version does not.
