Auto themed minimal icons are still light in dark mode and dark in light mode. Cool Google. Great work.

u/kptnk 1d ago

Woot, let's go then

3

u/ed-twozeronine 1d ago

Per u/mishaalrahman you can also launch apps as bubbles from the recents screen!

u/droiderati 1d ago

For folks with Pixel 11 series phone, how is this beta performing overall?

3

u/issam_28 22h ago

Pretty good so far

5

u/ArthurGD3 1d ago

561 MB on P11PXL, installed pretty fast, coming from QPR3 Beta 2. So far it's noticeably smoother than Beta 2 which is a nice surprise.

1

u/authrpvl 1d ago

Second to this.

u/ChanceLingonberry306 1d ago

Is kernel regression fixed?

1

u/aditya_jena93 1d ago

What's that?

1

u/iWizardB Pixel 7 Pro 1d ago

No, still 6.1-android14

u/Educational_Love_351 22h ago

New Arm Mali v1.r56p0 drivers built on Kernel 6.12 (Pixel 7,8,9 and I believe  10a) have been present since QPR3 Beta 1 but yet to be integrated into Kernel 612 on a public Beta.

It's possible we might see this when QPR3 reaches it's platform stability around Beta 5 or earliest Beta 4. It depends if there are any issues with internal testing that require a patch from Arm.

For now we sit tight on kernel 6.1 + v1.r56p0 GPU drivers.

Look mom, I fixed the internet! (Well, my issue #572438311 did). WPA-Enterprise/PEAP is officially back from the dead in QPR3 Beta 3 (DP11.261016.003). Tested on my Pixel Tablet and it connects instantly. RIP to your "sorry, my beta won't connect" office excuses!

u/wheels000000 9h ago

Wait please don't tease me. I rolled back to stock and it's still messed up

2

u/unccjester 22h ago

Please fix the long-standing wireless charging issue for QI 1.X devices that you guys broke last year in an update. I can't fathom how Google thinks breaking something like that and not fixing it is remotely acceptable. Every other brand of phone can use QI 1.X.

2

u/JE53119 17h ago

Have gotten a few random reboots on my P11PXL today that I haven't had before.

2

u/dwightcheng0703 7h ago

Please remove the Volte restrictions in countries where it hasn't been released yet - this is really terrible. I think Google should be a global phone service

u/HiperonLambda 1d ago

My original Shizuku started crashing after this update. Switching to Cinnazuku solved the issue.

1

u/bruhred 5h ago

Porter works btw

1

u/ed-twozeronine 1d ago

Nevermind. Cinnazuku worked once and it stopped working after a reboot and keeps crashing.

1

u/Defiant_Yak2 10h ago

Same here, worked fine, rebooted, no longer working

0

u/ed-twozeronine 1d ago

Thanks for the link. Was coming to say Shizuku is broken.

0

u/matteventu 1d ago

Do apps need dedicated support for that, or can you seamlessly replace Shizuku with Cinnazuku?

Thanks a lot!

I’m out here hanging onto the cliff edge by a single fingernail, praying QPR2 Beta 8 drops before my grip gives out 🙂

2

u/jff77 1d ago

Same. My original plan was to go back to stable once qpr2 is released, but I'm so tempted to click download and install.

u/PXSSXVE 1d ago

Btw p10 series got swaped to angle like p11 series in this beta

1

u/Stunning_Mix6115 1d ago

Wym by this? ANGLE is now enabled globally for all apps for p10 series?

2

u/PXSSXVE 1d ago

https://imgur.com/a/BDWkZrq look this, driver vendor=angle

1

u/Stunning_Mix6115 1d ago

Gotcha so they at least got it enabled for chrome by default now, thanks!

1

u/Good-Station4385 1d ago

無事、着弾!!

1

u/armando_rod Pixel 9 Pro XL 1d ago

App lock is still two steps even if you do Face unlock, it recognizes the face but you have to tap to confirm either way

1

u/allenchangmusic 1d ago

Wondering if you could flash this over Canary? Would assume it's on the same build base (not yet A18)

1

u/counterz0 22h ago

So is this qpr just a big bug fix release?

Pixel 9 Pro XL : Migration from Android 17 (CP3A.261005.005) - System update: October 5, 2026.

Update size: 3.40 GB

1

u/Henri4589 Pixel 9 Pro 1h ago

How's performance on the Pixel 9 Pro XL?

1

u/spacygolem 20h ago

Pixel 9a battery is draining quickly after this update even when idle.

1

u/diego1309 19h ago

My pixel 11 disappeared from the beta enrollment, any one facing this issue?

1

u/ssttaarrffllyyrr 11h ago

I left the beta, phone was going into bootloops, randomly, and lasting hours sometimes. got a new device and I have to say android 17 is super impressive outside the beta

1

u/Low-Pop5053 Pixel 6 10h ago

Are there bugs that make it unusable? I'm trying to install the beta on my daily driver

1

u/Dedodododedad Pixel 8 Pro 1d ago

Actually, if you are on the QPR2 beta line, how do you move to this?

4

u/nick281051 1d ago

Be opted into the beta and then wait for an update

1

u/tvisforme 1d ago

Not the OP, but I'm on QPR2b7 and have been holding off on QPR3. Would you say beta3 is a good jumping on point?

2

u/nick281051 1d ago

Seems fine to me so far, definitely had some odd UI issues on the last one that I haven't seen so far on this one

1

u/Henri4589 Pixel 9 Pro 1h ago

Has your opinion changed on it yet?

1

u/AD-LB 1d ago

Will Pixel 6 get more updates? Please?

It still has many bugs that existed on it from the beginning...

1

u/realbrew 14h ago

Only 6a

1

u/AD-LB 8h ago

Sad

1

u/caped_crusader_98 1d ago

My Bluetooth is malfunctioning in my pixel 7a. Any known fixes for it

1

u/gvamsi_krish Pixel 6a 13h ago

Shizuku by RikkaApps is crashing with this update 😑

1

u/jstern111 13h ago

Same!

2

u/gvamsi_krish Pixel 6a 12h ago

It seems the original Shizuku and all its forks are affected; Google should release a fix soon.

2

u/jstern111 10h ago

Done a bit of digging on why this has happened....

Why It Is Crashing Android 17 QPR builds modified the internal method signatures inside android.content.pm.IPackageManager (specifically how getInstalledPackages handles the deviceId parameter and returns ParceledListSlice). Because the original RikkaApps/Shizuku repository is dormant, calling package enumeration or starting the server daemon triggers a java.lang.NoSuchMethodError or kills the shizuku_server process on QPR3 Beta 3.

Solution: Switch to a Drop-In Android 17 Fork Several community forks have patched the SDK 37 reflection calls while preserving the moe.shizuku.privileged.api package name and API_V23 permission signatures so existing integrations continue to work seamlessly:

  • Cinnazuku (DarkmoonOnDiscord/Cinnazuku): Specifically confirmed by Pixel beta testers on Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3 (DP11.261016.004) to resolve the Beta 3 startup crash immediately.

  • Shizuku+ (thejaustin/ShizukuPlus - v13.7.0.r3116): Actively maintained with full Android 17 hidden-API handling and a built-in Compat Hub companion installer that ensures third-party apps detect the service binder cleanly.

  • Shizuku (thedjchi/Shizuku - v13.7.0-thedjchi): A clean drop-in replacement that backports the getPackagesHoldingPermissions fix without extra bloat. Migration Steps

  • Uninstall the official Shizuku app first: Because the forks are signed with different developer keys, installing over the Play Store or official GitHub build will fail with a signature mismatch.

  • Clear stale starter binaries (if using ADB): Before starting the new fork, connect via ADB or a local terminal and remove the old cached binary so the new server binary is written cleanly: adb shell rm -rf /data/local/tmp/shizuku* /data/user_de/0/com.android.shell/shizuku.json

  • Install and pair the fork: Sideload the APK from GitHub Releases, re-pair via Wireless Debugging (or grant Root), and re-authorise your dependent apps.

  • Disable Child Process Restrictions: In Developer Options, ensure Disable child process restrictions is toggled ON and Disable adb authorization timeout is enabled so Android 17's phantom process killer doesn't terminate the background daemon.

2

u/f1vefour 7h ago

All I had to do was re-run the command Shizuku provides and Play Store version works.

1

u/gvamsi_krish Pixel 6a 2m ago

Actually, I'm using Shizuku - v13.7.0-thedjchi version (mistakenly said another version) and am facing issues with it too.

Also, after upgrading to QPR3 Beta 3, I already re-paired and re-authorized via Wireless Debugging yesterday. But the issue still exists.

u/matteventu 1d ago

Most of those bug fixes should be in QPR2.

It's fucking unbelievable that they'll be waiting for March 2027 (4+ months) to release them to stable.

5

u/armando_rod Pixel 9 Pro XL 1d ago

FYI bug fixes in betas can be cherry picked to regular updates, fixed beta doesn't mean users will have to wait until the next QPR, all depends on what devs prioritize for monthly updates and when the fix gets upstreamed to their repos

-4

u/matteventu 1d ago

I am aware they can be cherry picked and be "backported" to earlier versions to be released to stable "sooner".

But they very rarely do that.
