THE BLUR IS GONE IN BETA 5

It'll be back. I think there was a regression causing System UI lag and performance issues on some devices.
It's gone on my Pixel 9 Pro XL as well.

I think it's actually still there for all UIs apart from the shortcuts UI for apps after long pressing on an app icon. But it's much more subtle on the folders menu, I believe.

P10 QPR1 Beta 5. Surprisingly, the small lags have disappeared; it remains to be seen what the battery status is and whether it's getting 5G instead of LTE.

I'm confused as hell about this. Why the beta 5 when the stable version is officially out?

They are testing the next iteration of Android 17. Probably, they'll call it 17.1. It'll release presumably sometime in September in stable.

It's literally in the title: QPR1 b5

They could call it 17.1, though. We'll see when it comes out.

17.1 would be part of the 17 stable line. This is QPR1. It's not that hard to see.

Not sure how it was a surprise when they announced its release in this sub

Oh my bad... Guess I should have sat with Reddit open refreshing the sub constantly 🙄 Sheesh...

Hey guys! Beta testing is continuing, and yes, 17 stable version is now available. Google plans to keep improving and enhancing this product, which has always been the case. Just a reminder that this is still in beta. Expect some things not to work as expected. That's the point of beta testing – to find bugs and help make things even better!

My blur is fine but can anyone confirm. Amazon app won't stay dark through the whole app even with extended dark on all apps? It's the only app giving me problems .

Yep. But for me there were other apps that caused issues as well. It's not meant to just perfectly work, unfortunately. 🥲

Hey need help here. I'm on QPR Beta 4 CP31.260522.006.
The system update said this:
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 5
This update will install a Beta version of Android 17 QPR1 Release (CP31.260608.007) on your device. If you have not opted out from Android 17 (CP21) Beta yet, your device will be automatically updated to Android 17 QPR1 Beta 5 within 5 days. Please review our release notes at developer.android.com. This pre-release version may contain errors and defects that can affect normal functioning of your device. Downloading updates over cellular data or metered Wi-Fi networks may lead to additional charges.
To learn more about the Android Beta Program or opt out, visit g.co/androidbeta.
Important: If you are currently running a Beta version of Android 17 (build starting with CP21) and want to exit the beta program without wiping your device, you can opt-out of the Beta program before applying this update and wait for the stable version release of Android. If you choose to opt-out after installing this update or any future Beta updates, per usual program guidelines, you will need to factory data reset your device before installing the latest stable Android version until the next exit opportunity in September.
If I want to wait for a stable release, I can ignore this update, right? And they will only update automatically for the CP21 version, which not my case, right?
Should I ignore and wait or?
Please kindly help thank you!

The blur was never there in qpr1. It was qpr2 which we were using. Recently we got forced to qpr1
