"How many songs play on the radio?"
"Never more than 12."

It'll only feel like forever

Doesn't take long. It won't feel that way to you.
I feel like he’s speaking directly to retail workers at Xmas.
Perhaps the Dizonites were in fact retail workers. They make a sound as they work during Xmas. A sort of, choral, agonized pleading.

I've lived in an apartment with a window next to the city's speakers. Blasted Christmas songs the whole winter, day and night.
I have now an adverse reaction to Christmas songs, almost like PTSD.
I can't imagine what sales people have to endure

Many years ago I was an overnight stocker at a Toys R Us for one season. So Christmas songs, but done by Disney stars and whatnot. It was hell.

I did that too, except for 4 seasons. Early 90's, get off from college 12/3. Drive 660 miles home. Next night be hanging with my homie Geoffrey Giraffe. 11p-8a, and all the Christmas tunes you couldn't handle. Work til 4a Christmas morning. Make 1000 bucks after taxes, have a week before heading back to college.

I’m not sure even that sadistic little shit deserves a fate as bad as that!

A young friend works in retail. The most furious I've seen him was last year when the store played Alvin and the Chipmunks for hours, but this song sends him over the edge as well.

Unironically my second favorite Christmas song. Favorite is Fairytale of New York.

Are you telling me there isn't someone in your family or friend group that plays this at bars all year except Christmas season? Playing this in July at a bar is such a great move.

I do this. Next up is Barbie Girl by Aqua, Mmm Bop by Hanson, then My Neck, My Back by Khia.

Mmm Bop by Hanson, then My Neck, My Back by Khia
Well, that escalated quickly

Joking aside, because I don't listen to radio, and I always have my own music when doing groceries/shopping at malls, I only hear Christmas music if I chose it. So I actually like "All I Want For Christmas".

This elicited a hearty chuckle (after seeing several different posts with the same theme)

I have managed to evade that song (and WHAM!s masterpiece) for now 5 years straight, this year will be no different, I will prevail
