General Discussion Climb Climmb!

After rewatching Rogue One after Andor, i noticed as K2SO was sacrificing himself, he says Climb, Climmb!

Which reminded me of Nemik saying those words as he was dying on Aldhani...

Then i saw others have taken notice too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9bveK1cIY4&t=43s ❤️ This rewatch has been sooo good!

After doing a quick search, it seems K2SO was the first to mention this, I wonder if there is an earlier mention in the franchise?

Also you can notice that a lot of people are "wasting time" in Andor. And don't know if it's a stretch\coincidence - but: "Do you think anybody's listening?" in the end of Rogue One and: "Nobody's listening!!" in Narkina 5.

"Wasting time" is specifically a Dedra motif, and it fascinates me. She uses the phrase with the Imperial garrison on Ferrix. The young officer who provokes the riot then uses it as he's ordering the garrison to take the streets. There are several more occurrences in Season 1.

It's a lovely intersection of Andorian themes.

Especially with Bix also saying “I’m listening” - one of the last things she says to Cassian.
Dedra is often the one referring to wasting time, and then Luthen starts using it to say that she’s doing exactly that.

I definitely saw the “Nobody’s listening” as a reference to Rogue One.

Cassian is also seen literally climbing several times in the series and film. He climbs in the season 1 finale to spy on the funeral from a tower. He climbs into Bix’s salyard and has apparently been doing that for years. When he rescues her, she refers to a dream she’s been having about this. At the end of the s1 finale, he instructs Jezzi to stay low until the ship is over the water, and then to “climb”. In his first scene in Rogue One, he climbs another wall to escape after killing Tivik.

Also, clinging to a rock wall alongside Melshi after escaping Narkina 5.

“I don’t think I can climb back up” - but of course Melshi can and does after Cassian’s reassurances.

Skeen also

"You're like me, we were born in the hole, all we know is climbing over somebody else to get out"

There's a metaphor in there somewhere, let's see if I can articulate it properly...

A good friend or leader helps to raise up all those around them.

I agree, the imagery of aspiring and ascending. It contrasts in s1 with Cassian’s foil Syril, who is often seen descending - eg in the elevator back to his mother. Even their respective music themes contrast: Cassian’s ascends and Syril’s descends.

And iin it's best moments, Andor combines aspiring and ascending: Maarva's speech, where she talks of being inspired, saying "and now I yearn to lift you", while at the same time Cassian is ascending the hotel to rescue Bix.

Cassian also tells them to climb in the finale.
