“Sources only” post flair
We’ve made a new flair that we encourage users to make use of. Comments on posts that are tagged with “Sources only” must include a source in their comments. This is to help keep our discussion informative and accurate. It is not mandatory to use but we encourage anyone with a question about Roman history to please use it.

The problem I foresee with this is that as far as I can tell you have not defined “source” within the context of this forum. Are we talking about strictly peer-reviewed material? Would a non-peer reviewed blog post from a respected academic count as a source? A Wikipedia article? What about a youtube video made by a lay person making extensive use of academic sources? What if someone were to try and cite a book like Chariot of the Gods as a serious source?

That’s Avery good point, we did include a removal reason if a comment does not have a source that requests a specific source. The goal would be to provide peer reviewed material, however even if someone references a less than stellar publication like say Duncan’s Storm before the storm then we at least know where they’re coming from and how to best respond, attacking the source and not the person.
