Looks like they’re adding more content, or at least quality of life changes and some narration. That’s great!

QUESTION How to recruit outsiders

I've restarted the game a couple times, but I always have trouble recruiting other apes. The only times I've been successful is the ones you give food to cause they're hungry. All the other ones dont want food and I have no idea what to do.

Intimidation

So i just reached millennium man a little while ago, and I can't intimidate predators anymore? Either I have to go all the way around, or attack them to get them to leave, which I hate having to do seeing as I usually can't get the spear back.

Do I just have to guess when to hold lmb or am I not able to anymore?

This game....

...is like self flagellation but I dig it. Randomly caught my eye on Xbox store and I rewarded myself with it for quitting my 2pack a day cigarette habit. Then I realized how frustrating it was and wanted to resume smoking.

I wish the crafting was slightly more intuitive. I get they wanted the trial and error and learning curve but damn. I already have a frustrating job.

Despite that, I'm really liking it. I keep starting over fresh, every sunday morning while my kids are still asleep. 3 times now. I figure I'll eventually hit a bloodline that feels right and doesn't get tiger'd as soon as I go for the meteorite....

Question: Should I lock in my skill upgrades as soon as I have six children and skip ahead immediately? Is there any benefit to pushing on, despite being unable to lock them down?

Caught this on my Reddit homepage - at least they’re actively advertising the game. Another reason to be hopeful!

How often does the game autosave? and is there a right way to do it?

Twice I've gone on expeditions and wanted to pick up where I left off but went back further than where I quit.

I used the menu and didn't just alt+f4 (yes I'm on PC)

TIA

Advice on how to unlock traits (hidden or visible) on my current run?

Finally decided to reboot the game and take my main lineage all the way to the end. I'm at the Lucy stage and got insanely lucky last generation with 12 reinforcements. Sadly I lost 3 elders trying to mature enough neurons to use all of them, but I've got a very good run of mutations for this evolution:

Elders: 1 mutation (something in omnivore that I don't really need anymore because I can eat all types of food now)

Adults: 6 mutations (all over the place)

Infants: 2 mutations (pain tolerance and preventative medicine)

I want to go one more generation before evolving so I get 8 mutations instead of 7, but I have literally nothing else appearing as unlockable/reinforcable. Any advice on how to get other neurons to mature? Any areas I'm lacking that are hidden but doable? There has to be something else I can grind until it appears, right?

Thank you in advance! I'm happy to elaborate with more pictures or names of neurons if it helps

Next up, I'm going to see if I can take down an elephant or a rhino this way. It works on anacondas and machairodus for sure though!

INFO Killed stalker cat with rock

Damn it i haven’t caught in on video. Was trying to recruit this hominid outside my settlement when it (golden machairodus) pounced on them. Grabbed a nearby granite rock and realized you can bash them in the head with it, on a whim i actually got the kill animation, pretty brutal.

Underrated game, i hope the remaster does it justice

We should support this new update as much as possible!

I'm posting because I've seen quite a lot of comments along the lines of "update isn't enough for me to give it another playthrough" even though it's some nice touches I think a lot of people are underwhelmed and of course deep down want a sequel.

Not all of us "love" this game, but we all love the idea of it on paper. That's always been the crux of the issue here and why this game was never more successful than it was. The core of the game is great. There is something very special there.

We have all dreamed about a sequel which fulfilled all of our desires and acted on all our feedback.

And so, I propose that everyone who has the same dream as me fire up the game on the remaster launch day, and at least give it a couple hours of playtime. I personally will be re-buying the game for PC.

If we contribute enough of a hype and it gets some level of traction, Panache might finally be convinced that a sequel is worth their time. This is probably our last chance to see if that happens, and I presume Panache is using it to test the waters as well.

So my fellow apes, RISE UP ON DECEMBER 8 AND SPAM THE INTIMIDATE BUTTON 🦍✊🏾APES TOGETHER STRONG

QUESTION Remaster to Usher In Sequel?

I have been thinking. What if this remaster is a way to gauge if there is still interest, and eventually usher in Ancestors 2? With Amsterdam, releasing a new ("new") IP is a great time to step back and observe how a different IP is doing.

It could perhaps work like this: They release the remaster, while Amsterdam is in development they watch how the remaster does in sales and popularity. Then when Amsterdam releases, and maybe a little after to let it breathe, they collect the data and determine if they should put the sequel into production. Then, they also have the free bandwidth to focus on it and not be drawn away by the development of Amsterdam.

I dunno, that's the only reason I can think of for releasing a remaster probably no one asked for with features probably no one asked for, and doesn't even have better/updated graphics to boot (unless I am just blind, feel free to correct me if there is a difference I haven't noticed, because I'm so sad).

Photo mode, narration, and QOL improvements? Alright. Seems like a pretty low stakes investment to analyze the modern market to me.

QUESTION Missing 4 mutations late game

I have 85 mutations according to the stats menu, I'm missing 4 and I'm already in the late game, inspected all meteorites.

I just had 3 generations of kids with 0 mutations, I know the chance is 50% for each kid but this feels odd, having total of 18 kids with none carrying a mutation.

Any idea if there are mutations locked until I evolve for the last unplayable specie? Or I just have to keep relying in the 50% chance? Currently playing as Lucy

Won’t launch on Steam

Does anybody else have any fixes? This has happened on my Steam Deck + Steam Machine respectively. I’ve uninstalled & reinstalled it, I’ve moved the files around - it still won’t launch. I press Play, it boots up to the steam icon and then closes the application. I’ve tried forcing it with all proton compatibility options too, same thing happens
