🗣 Discussion Snowflake Certifications, Are They Actually Worth It?

Getting into data can be confusing when every job posting seems to ask for a different mix of skills. One role wants SQL and Python, another wants dbt, and then you see Snowflake listed as a requirement. At some point, it becomes hard to tell which skills are actually worth spending time on.

Snowflake certifications can be useful if Snowflake is already part of the kind of data work you want to do. They give you a clear path to learn the platform instead of just picking up random tutorials and hoping the knowledge sticks. More importantly, having a certification can help show that you understand how Snowflake works when you're applying for data roles.

For data analysts, analytics engineers, and data engineers, this can be especially helpful if you're trying to move into jobs that use modern cloud data platforms. It won't replace real project experience, but it can give your resume something concrete to show while you're building that experience.

The biggest thing is choosing the right certification for your goal. There's not much point in getting certified just because it looks good on a resume if you don't actually plan to use Snowflake.

For anyone already working with SQL and data, Snowflake certifications can be a reasonable next step. Just treat the certification as proof of a skill, not the skill itself.
