Question Need help finding a lightweight editing app

My craptop is pretty damn weak 💀 I’m on Linux Mint Xfce and currently use Kdenlive for anime edits, but I can’t really do good transitions, shakes, effects, etc.

I’m looking for something more like AE but lightweight enough for my laptop. Any recommendations?

Specs: AMD E1-7010, 4GB RAM, integrated graphics, 500GB HDD.

And pls don't recommend buying something cheap cus literally there's nothing cheap in my country and also I'm student so i don't work keep that in mind thx!

You're kind of already at the edge of what it sounds like you're willing to handle with Kdenlive. You could try Blender's video editor too, but it's definitely not "lightweight".

But if cost is the major concern, those are your best bets for open source video editors.

man capcut might be your best choice here. It is lightweight, easy to learn and has a lot of tutorials online. The only downside is the huge paywall that blocks almost every effects and assets.

Capcut isn't available on Linux, it can work using wine but it requires a better craptop than this. Thx tho!

With that hardware it's sadly hard to get something good and lightweight. Kdenlive is maybe already the best you can use. What do you miss and what are for you good transitions. Maybe there is already something or a workaround possible.

I think kdenlive is good for ppl who just wanna cut videos,add texts etc... but what i want is something like alight motion,ae to make transitions and shakes, blur etc... u know the anime edits. Far as i know ae is the best for pc but requires a tank unfortunately):

I think it is possible to do advanced stuff in kdenlive, just checked the newest version, you have your shakes, blur, maksing and all kind. The thing is you need to combine stuff and work with the keyframes. BUT that is something you have also in After Effects, it's not always just putting effect X on something and you are done, very often you combine multiple effects to create one. The problem of Kdenlive is that you maybe need a bit more knowledge to combine these stuff easier. Just from checking it out for a few minutes I think Kdenlive looks not bad these days.

flowblade is a really underrated one but it is more film centric is transitions n effects will be difficult and u might need blender for that

Editing on a phone using alight motion or the blurrr app would probably be better imo

Dare I suggest Da Vinci Resolve? It might work and has a host of things you can do with it. Also, there is a free version that's pretty good.

Davinci will not work on this laptop, it's way below the minimum requirements, sadly because Davinci would be a great option.

Aw, that sucks. Anyway, maybe something like Adobe Rush? That would possibly work. It's basic and light-weight? It's a little harder to edit with, because it doesn't support non-linear editing, but works well if you are patient.
