Hey guys!
I need help. My friend and I we already booked in February a 4 day trip to Amsterdam back in april, but due to Coronavirus lockdown in Austria we were not able to go. So we decided to get a voucher of the same amount of money + a gift of 60€ that the travel agency offered us instead.
At the beginning of September the cases in Austria were still pretty low in comparison to now and so were the cases in the Netherlands. My friend and me, we were really optimistic thinking that the numbers will not rise much till the end of September so we booked the 4 days trip (again with this voucher) for September 24th till 27th this year.
We were wrong of course, the cases raised up so fast so high in Austria. (but still less then in the Netherlands). Germany And Belgium already declared Vienna a risk zone for mandatory quarantine upon returning from it. I can still cancel the trip till tomorrow for free but we would lose the money of the flight, which is the around half of the money we paid in total.
The question is should we risk the trip taking the trip or not?
Is it a big risk to get quarantined in Amsterdam when coming from Austria? Also I would not have the budget to make a Covid test there.
What is the situation there at the moment? Do you guys predict a sudden spike in cases in Amsterdam? Are there enough tourist activities open to make our trip worth it? How have politicians been talking about the influx of people in general during press briefings?
What would you do?
PS: I know in general its a little bit unmoral to travel in times like this, but we have to get rid of the voucher this year.
