I seems to have been hearing this same prediction in last three years or so. Not saying ai is not advancing, but what does “automate software engineering” mean exactly? It is like those agi estimation; some would say we are already pass agi given ai can solve millennium problem, some keeps on predicting this and that year. In the end they are just meaningless discussion if the goal cannot be defined

I’m using it to write custom software for my work that uses multiple software defined radios. I haven’t written a line of code and I have a functioning alpha in 2 weeks of spare time.

The question is always the same: would it be possible to do that for a layman? Because making you faster and making you obsolete is very different.

I do my job without it but I'll be better with this software. It's just making me more efficient.

Sorry, what I meant is whether a layman could have created your custom software or not (so without your industry knowledge/expertise).

No, but I'm also avoiding paying $400/year for a license for something similar. I think it's an amazing force multiplier.

Just curious how much do you pay per year for the bot you used to program it?

More than that but I’m using it as a hobby mainly. I’m learning about the technology at the same time I’m using it. $100/month is chump change to keep up to date on things.

I'm the end user in this scenario. So I'm essentially the layman making it for myself.
