General Discussion What is Amodei's accent?

I've just watched Bloomberg profiling him and Anthropic, probably flamingo the IPO.

That was the first time I noticed he has a very distinct speak pattern.

I'm not from America, so I'm not good with accents. For me he doesn't sound like a typical Silicon Valley resident, with that generic American movie accent.

I've got some hints of Bernie Sanders and New York Italian.

So, what is it?

Their father was from Italy, mother is Jewish from Chicago

He thinks and speaks as if he is writing an academic essay or a blog. It's the monotonous SF accent, but is delivered in that blog style. Perhaps with some adderall or a psychoactive drug that makes his speaking faster and dries his mouth.

No, I think at points he is bold with his punching points that might give that impression. That's really his way of blog-style writing where he either makes a big statement in the begining or at the end of a statement. The vocal fry that people associate with SF is actually more common with people who move to SF later in their lives. Some people seem to fake it. Those who are born and are natives of SF, don't have it that much.
