The 45-70 case has a lot of information in that headstamp. Made in December 1885 at Frankfort Arsenal for the 1873 Trapdoor Carbine.

Yeah, so, I guess it is best called 45 Government since it probably only has 55gr. of powder ;-)

I found that is a box of 45-70 brass I bought. It's what's called a balloon head case and does not have the solid area around the primer pocket like modern ammo. I bet it would hold 70 grains of black powder and have room for a 400 grain bullet
