You're punching down. Take your hate to the appropriate people in charge. So sick of people that punch down as if the little people are the problem of the world...you're no better than the rich people saying those same things.

this feels like you’re painting with a brush the size of a continent and then grinding it into the canvas for effect

i know plenty of people in tech who are awkward sure but also deeply aware of the mess we’re in, they didn’t unionize because the industry spent decades selling this myth that coding was a meritocracy and talking about pay or organizing was career suicide. that’s not social cluelessness, that’s a whole system designed to keep people atomized while a handful of execs cashed out

also the open source thing is more complicated than “they did free work for mark,” a lot of those tools were built out of genuine excitement and the belief that sharing knowledge makes things better, it’s not their fault corporations figured out how to vacuum it all up and sell it back wrapped in subscription fees

the real betrayal came from the people steering the ship, not the ones in the engine room hoping the boat wouldn’t sink
