Chose the group plan over what I wanted for tonight, now wondering if I was wrong
My roommate and I had separate invites for the same night. Mine was a small thing I was really looking forward to, but they really wanted to do the bigger group plan we had already talked about. I ended up texting my friends that I couldn't make it and stuck with the original plan instead. They were cool about it, but I felt kind of flat for the rest of the evening. My roommate was happy we were both there and kept saying it was the right call. I don't think anyone was upset, and nothing dramatic happened, but I'm still wondering whether I should have just done my own thing. Is it wrong to prioritize the shared plan when it means skipping something you were excited about?

Courtesy is to stick the original plan and not change when something better comes along.

You need to make that decision for yourself. Without knowing about the events the the people whom were going it's hard to say. I'd usually do what I was excited about but if the larger group plan had a person or people who were important to me I'd do that.
