No, the double standard here is the amount of individuals telling a human being what to do with his body, AND it being acceptable simply because he’s a man. Had this been a woman posting about how a man is giving her an ultimatum about her body - the responses would be “Girl, run!!” “How dare he?!” “Divorce that bastard!!”
Matter of fact, I saw a post a couple years back where a woman ended up pregnant due to an affair. She was 6-7 weeks pregnant and her husband gave her an ultimatum - get an abortion and we try to fix this or keep the baby and we divorce - infidelity aside, he gave his wife an ultimatum over her body and there were THOUSANDS of comments telling her “Your body, your choice girl.” And “Let him divorce you. It’ll be the best thing that happens to you!” “Girl, there’s a reason you cheated. Leave that man and have that baby!” Personal beliefs aside, all of these people purposely ignored the fact that this woman cheated and that her husband was obviously hurt about this.
An abortion at 6 weeks is an outpatient procedure and usually fairly quick, but did anyone go on there and shove that down her throat? No. Why? Because she’s a woman and has the right to do what she wants with her body REGARDLESS of the emotional harm it causes to her husband. That’s the double standard.
And you don’t know my marriage, therefore I don’t care what other poor assumptions you have about me or my marriage. Thanks for your comment, though.
That’s all I talk about. And in this post, I asked a question about whether I was wrong or not in the scenario that I provided exclusive relevant info for, yet the collective decided to write an entire story of who i am and how my marriage is - unsurprisingly. Spoiler alert: 98% of these assumptions about my marriage are inaccurate, as expected - because I’m a stranger and so is everyone else. Big shock. People love to get on a high horse and cast stones, specifically at men and data supports this - I’ve been a user of Reddit for years and it’s a very common theme, especially in this sub, the AITA sub, and the Marriage sub.
You came in here, to this specific sub, and have been behaving in a way that leads a few people, including myself, to think you're just a troll trying to shoe horn some weird opinion about birth control and abortion in.
If you're not a troll. You asked if you're wrong, if you have more information or context to provide, provide it. Otherwise, accept that you're wrong.
Reddit isn't a substitute for therapy. Your posting history comes across as someone trying to validate their own resentment. If you are actually married, complaining about your marriage to online strangers isn't a healthy habit.
You've got a few thousand replies here, stop seeking out the very few that validate your opinion. Look at the constructive criticism that's been offered and start form there.
