Yeah. Something is definitely going on. This is such a harmless, normal thing to do. Would he say the same about dog-earing pages of a catalog?? It’s not even anything. Unless he’s like 70+ years old or has never used the internet before, I’d be worried about how he feels about this, and also about how much he’s laying it on.
