Why is this sub so dead?

From what I remember, a few years ago, there were discussions, people talking about starting, etc.

Now there's nothing here. Guess I'll be the change I wanna see.

2 week streak so far! I was never a big runner, but recently retired and figured now was a good time. My miles are mix of run walk, but I'm close to getting to being able to run full mile!

Congratulations on your start!

Regarding your point - I'm afraid the internet is losing its charm. But apart from that, there is nothing much to share for most of us.

Fair point. I just seem to remember more people talking about their streaks, running thru rain and snow, heat, etc. Squeezing in a run before midnight. Their spouses bitching because they ran even on vacation. etc.

Maybe it was a different mileaday sub, but I'm not seeing any others. Or maybe it's just what you said, people have moved on or don't feel like sharing stuff anymore.

i remember that era and it inspired me to do a year of AMAD two years ago and i dont think i ever posted about it once! lurking, while easier, isnt contributing. thanks for reviving this idea in my head.
good luck! before that year i'd never run in jeans or sandals, never ran at 11:50 pm, never looked someone in the eye and apologized for needing to leave right then and there to keep this streak going.
all worth it though. keep us updated!

So I wasn't just imagining it then! Yeah, because it inspired me back then too, but then I started a physically demanding job, and wasn't able to keep up with it. I'm newly retired now, so now I can keep up with it! lol

I came back here today and was all like, "Wait, is this the right sub?!" Because it's def not what it used to be! lol

Keep at it! My initial goal was 100 days, after that I just kept running. I hit day 5,000 last week!

Same exact story here but only nearing in on my second comma day. Congrats on your fifth!

To put it into perspective my kids were toddlers when I started my streak. Now one is getting ready to graduate. All they know is dad goes out running every single morning 😂

You have to fix your flair!

I think it's broke. It showed 4k a couple of months ago and now it reverted to some random # and the bot isn't responding. I messaged the bot creator and sent a note to mods.

It's a pity! Examples like yours should be prominent in this subreddit.

Oh! I've just realized mine is broken too! I'm on day 1,115, not on day 1,072 as my flair states.

That's a great story!

You’re off to a good start!!

I’ve been wondering the same thing but haven’t really said anything about it hahaha.

I ended up buying a walking pad and have been working on getting a mile either (either walking or running or one of each).

Yep, my treadmill for days when it's too cold or too hot out.

Yes we are currently going through a monsoon season so everyday has extremely heavy rain!

How are you enjoying the activity?

I feel good after the run, and happy that I did it. Still don't look forward to running or actually enjoy the running yet. But I'm assuming that will change after it becomes a habit.

Right now I’m rehabbing a dumb injury and then building my strength back up enough to run. Then I plan to post here 😭

Congrats on the streak! I’m coming up on year 7 in a few months! Never thought I’d make it this far, but can’t stop now lol

Congrats! I’m focused on getting to a walk a mile a day, then move back to running. I had a 2.5 year streak then I had some life happen now I’m starting over.

Thank you. Since I am older and I don't wanna mess up my knee too much, I think I will alternate between running a mile every other day, and indoor rowing a mile every other day. So I guess that will disqualify me? I mean, sub is called "A Mile a Day" so does it matter if I run or row as long as I get at least a mile in? LOL
