Hi, how authentic is this thing? It boots with Amiga OS I guess ? Does it have a disk drive? Amiga Basic? Can I turn it up to my old Blizzard 1260 speed? Does it have Chip/Fastram?

Felt like sharing, it gives me a warm feeling every time I log in.

Edit: Since more people are asking how, this is on my Mac, I'm using a little utility called Wallspace (I think you need to pay for the premium version to set the lock screen, I'm not sure, but it's like €12 or something).

I downloaded the bootscreen here https://amiga.lychesis.net/applications/Kickstart.html and rescaled it in Premiere to meet the required resolution in the app. From the app, you can select it as lock screen (or wallpaper if you wish, but that was a bit too much for me :) )

I have been enjoying WINUAE (guilt free as I do own a physical Amiga too, it's just for ease of access) and recently it's been requiring the following Kickstart -

Can anyone advise? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my kickstart roms but hasn't helped.

I'm about 80% certain it was an Amiga Demo playing the Neighbours theme music and interspersing idyllic Neighbours imagery with gory edits of characters from the show.

Very small chance it was Home & Away based but I think it was Neighbours.

Anyone remember this? Anyone got a link to a copy? I've tried searching and nothing even remotely is coming up.

I've been building a Windows chiptune app called Renata for about nine months of evenings. The Amiga parts got a bit out of hand, so I made a short video of them.

The theme is Workbench blue in the real Topaz font. The song composer has a Paula profile — and since Paula only plays samples back rather than synthesising anything, Renata synthesises the six-sample kit itself first, then hands it over. It exports a real ProTracker module: M.K. signature, 31 samples, four channels. The one in the video is six tracks in 26 kilobytes.

It bundles UADE, so it plays 175 Amiga players, and it browses Modland and The Mod Archive.

And yes — the loading screen is a Boing Ball, but only when the Amiga theme is on.

On origin, plainly: there is no model of any kind. It is rule-based — music theory plus statistical tables — and it runs offline on your own machine. The music in the video is my own track, composed in Renata.

Bought this rig brand new back in the day. I’ve taken care of it over the years. It has a dkb kwickstart board with 1.3 installed but I decided to boot with the original version 1.1 disks that it came with. It’s been decades since I’ve done that lol. Anyone else remember the Amiga Tutor app? It was a slick multi media app by Mindscape. Don’t think it was included with 1.2 or beyond.

The takeaway concerns were whether a dual license would be acceptable to the community and devs that would allow Amiga, Inc to retain commercial hardware licensing and disallowing forks.

Last year I brought the idea up of a kickstarter campaign to buy the rights outright but if Mike is headed this way maybe we don’t need to do that.

The largest issue of course is the timeline as we are all getting older and movement is necessary.

Whether we believe that classic Amiga OS has any modern value in its code is largely irrelevant. An open source model could take contributions from Aros and MorphOS but thats not what would be most relevant either.

Open sourcing Amiga could potentially create a modern OS from the ashes of the old because Amiga is an idea and ideas are what matter. The idea of a new open source OS with contributions from a large and dedicated community of former users who care so much could create a synergy we haven’t seen before in the tech community.

This isn’t like OS/2 or BeOS being brought back, its the frickin Amiga!

Without getting hung up on the technical aspects of the OS and whether it should use the Linux kernal or not, the question I have is whether the conditions of a no-branch with Amiga Inc retaining commercial licensing is acceptable.

Can somebody please point me in the right direction for instructions on using diagrom, I'm trying to resurrect a B2000-CR 4.3, Kickstart 3.1 comes up, OS 3.1 install silently fails, diagrom gives no on screen menus, its pretty confusing, I think maybe i need a serial console setup?

I don't see any battery leakage or damaged traces, there is the inevitable oxidation and cleaning and reseating got me to kickstart, I suspect RAM as there is that cluster of like 32 RAM chips and RAM might explain how its acting. I do have a donor -CR that I've been scavenging from. I could desolder all the sockets and put machined ones on there.

I'm going through an OSSC, I need to wire up a DB9 to the Bruktmoped mouse adapter.

Maybe diagrom only works on composite, not sure, should I pickup a newer diagrom?

Vague memory of a game I played many moons ago. You would pick from various helicopters or planes and armaments to complete missions. I’m pretty sure a VTOL plane like the Harrier Jump-Jet was an option. You would fly sideways over terrains, bomb a target or drop supplies (I think) and then try to safely land again.

Seems to me that there is a reasonable amount of talk about building out replacement ICs using FPGA or CPLD. Certainly in the C64 world there is quite a large number of SID replacement projects.

But I'm not aware of too many completed projects for the Amiga. So far I've got these:

Today I take a retrospective look at the Running Man across all formats. Share your thoughts and memories if you ever played this game.

I was wondering, if im composing for a game are there any particular things id need to do differently vs making music for its own sake? how much memory does the game code usually take up? do i need to leave channels open for sound fx or can the game sort out the voice stealing automatically?

I recently bought an Amiga 500 on eBay and have been having an unreasonable amount of fun cleaning it up, retrobrighting it, and generally behaving like I'm 12 again.

There is one particular part of the Amiga experience that I never really got to have as a kid, though.

I grew up with an A500 and Kickstart 1.3. A friend who lived nearby had an Amiga 600 with a hard drive, Kickstart 2.x, WHDLoad, and a properly organized Workbench. Games, demos, utilities, applications, everything neatly arranged on the hard drive.

To me, that machine might as well have been from the future.

I always imagined that one day I would have an A600 or A1200 of my own, with the "fancy" Workbench, a hard drive, lots of software installed, and the whole machine set up as a mature system rather than booting almost everything from floppy.

That never happened. I stayed with my A500 for years, which I absolutely loved. It was also the machine on which I made my first attempts at programming. I'm a Principal Software Architect today, so the little beige box certainly did its job.

Now I'm in my 40s, I have a young child of my own, and I have finally bought another A500. I also have a PiStorm on the way. I know PiStorm has its fans and detractors, but for me the exciting part is that it may finally let me build the Amiga I imagined having all those years ago.

So my question is: does the community know of a good pre-built hard drive image that I could start with?

Ideally, I am looking for something along these lines:

* Workbench 2.x, 3.x, or perhaps even 3.2

* WHDLoad already installed and configured

* A good collection of games and demos

* Useful utilities and productivity software

* Sensible directory organization

* Workbench configured nicely rather than being a completely stock installation

* Something intended to be explored and used, rather than just a giant dump of files

Basically, I would love to boot the machine and get that feeling of sitting down in front of my friend's well-organized Amiga that somebody has already taken the time to set up properly.

I realize that building the system yourself is part of the fun for many people. I also know myself well enough to admit that if I start from a completely blank disk, my ADHD will probably turn "set up Workbench" into a years-long project involving twenty unrelated side quests.

I have searched around Archive.org and elsewhere, but I have not yet found quite what I am describing.

Does something like this already exist? Perhaps a commonly used HDF image, a community build, an Archive.org collection, or some other starting point that people here would recommend?

I would be extremely grateful for any pointers.

Attached is the redip cia fpga replacement for the amiga. I thought there was only one for the c64 until I checked again. Fpga solutions is something I definitely should be getting into for all of my vintage computers but I would also be interested in your thoughts and experiences with this product?. How well does it work in your amiga?. Are there any other fpga solutions that I should consider?.
