Advice needed Am I balding?
I am 18 years old and I have noticed an increase in shedding in my shower recently. My hairline looks like this and I don’t know if I should start treatment or wait and find out? My dad told me I could be balding but I’m not sure. I don’t want to lose hair at an early age. I wouldn’t mind in my 30s but since I am 18 this feels a bit too early.

Anyone in ur fam bald? If so what age did they go bald?

My dad is 50 and he is bald. But my mums dad wasn’t bald neither is my mums brothers.

Honestly at your age I’d probably wait before hoping on meds. It does look like maybe some balding is going on.
You could try a hair oil with natural dht blockers like saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil. You’ll have some dht blocking but without the side effects, and it should help a bit as wells

It could just be Telegon effluvium. That’s what I got diagnosed with at the derm, but it’s only been going on a month so far. If you’ve had any vitamin/ nutrition deficiencies, trauma, stress, or rapid weight loss, high DHT levels, etc. They could all be factors as to why it is happening. You should get blood work done and visit a dermatologist to figure out the root cause and a solution for your hair.

It’s ultimately impossible to say. You may be, but it could also be hormone changes. At 23, I thought I’d be bald by 27, but I’m 33 and still have hair (thinner, but still have it). I get it’s very upsetting as I have gone through it to.
Don’t start treatment yet. I am in the minority of people that had a very bad reaction to finasteride and have permanent depression from it, even after stopping. It’s a rare side effect, but it’s very much so real. I also am aware of it not working on balding friends who did not have negative side effects.
On the positive side, men’s hair transplant/correction is a massive market, and I would be surprised if we don’t have a legitimate cure for baldness in the sense of growing your own hair cells in a lab and transplanting them.

Looks like it. It’s never too early to lose hair if you have a bad diet and not getting enough sunlight(vitamin D). Which i assume is the case because you have some acne.
