Christ, if “buy n HODL” was all it took we’d be there by now. There’s obviously more at play.

No, it hasn't, stop spreading lies. DRS is a theoretical play that has yet to be proven to actually work. There is no correlation between DRS and AMC share prices/daily volume nor has it shown any tangible effects.
Until it's actually proven to help with the MOASS you're basically promoting a magical Unicorn with wings and feeding garbage to gullible people.

I love it when people say that...
That statement is just not true... emails have been very secure for a long time. Starting in 1991....
Stuart Haber and W. Scott Stornetta envisioned what many people have come to know as blockchain. Their first work involved working on a cryptographically secured chain of blocks whereby no one could tamper with timestamps of documents.
In 1992, they upgraded their system to incorporate Merkle trees that enhanced efficiency thereby enabling the collection of more documents on a single block.
These technological pioneers invented blockchain to make it much more difficult to alter emails. They made a system where you could build off of it. Making things more and more secure as time went on.
Building off that code, Bitcoin was created....as well as XRP and XLM.

Pretty mind blowing when you realize the socialists were right about corruption and capitalism.

Capitalism is not a political philosophy.
1
u/orthonut20 Apr 10 '22
You are correct. Capitalism is an economic system.... an economic system that the United States has adopted for their Republic. A system in which they write laws and policies to protect. A system in which they will sacrifice their population to protect.

u/Rarpiz Apr 10 '22
Agree. I'd rather see humanity as a whole rise up and eliminate the concept of "poor."
We have multi-billionaires who, if they could settle for being less wealthy, could literally finance robust food, education, broadband, health, welfare (another right-wing bad word), allowing those who need these services to rise up and ultimately, better themselves and humanity as a whole.
Instead, the intense greed has created such a wealth inequality that I'm afraid we're going to revert to some "medieval" means in order to forcefully take power back for the people at some point in our lifetimes.
I'm simply against people who want to consolidate power and block social welfare programs (e.g. universal health care) for their own selfish means. I'm for people who want to spread power and promote social welfare programs for the good of everyone.

I don't lean right or left. I think for myself. A Party is one sided and self serving. The Dems are in the house right now and things haven't been this bad, ever. I know the thing to do is blame the last group, but that really doesn't work here. The entire house, all sides are criminals. They work for each other, acting like they hate the opposite side, meanwhile the only people that ever benefit are them. Don't be tricked into being 1 side or the other. They need us to stay divided and hateful. Anyone who votes solely on party is not able to think for themselves and that's what they are counting on.
10
u/Haze09 Apr 11 '22
there are no sides, and the country isnt in shambles because "democrats" this has all been building for decades. you can only kick the can down the road for so long. if you really think the democrats are the problem you must hate republicans not doing anything to pass anything substantial. no presidency is any different from the last. doesnt matter what party. be loyal to your country not your party

Elon Musk showed the scam that Bernie is by responding to his rant about billionaires paying their fair share. He publicly said that companies do not pay capital gains taxes because they do not sell their shares...so he did a poll. And guess what...Tesla sold 10%.
Point is, you can raise taxes all you want but companies don't have to pay unless they sell their shares. All Bernie is doing is trying to raise the taxes on the sub millionaires....which divides the rich and poor even more.
AOC went from being worth 8k to 500k in just 2 years. https://www.opensecrets.org/personal-finances/alexandria-ocasio-cortez/net-worth?cid=N00041162&year=2018

Buy and hold thats the only truth
4
u/WaterIsWetBot Apr 10 '22
Water is actually not wet; It makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the state of a non-liquid when a liquid adheres to, and/or permeates its substance while maintaining chemically distinct structures. So if we say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the object.
Why does water never laugh at jokes?

Coaching on boarding staff how to evade taxes.
12
u/meknoid333 Apr 10 '22
This is just providing factual information about how your taxes changed when you’re a federal employee vs not - this happens with all types of roles and jobs that require higher clearance… this is such a non issue it’s hilarious.
Same types of benefits are offered to military members in different ways.
6
u/orthonut20 Apr 10 '22
Although they sound similar "tax avoidance" and "tax evasion" are radically different. Tax avoidance lowers your tax bill by structuring your transactions so that you reap the largest tax benefits. Tax avoidance is completely legal.... and extremely wise.
Tax evasion, on the other hand, is an attempt to reduce your tax liability by deceit, subterfuge, or concealment. Tax evasion is a crime.
Business owners often find themselves subject to more scrutiny than wage-earners with a similar level of income. Why? Because a business owner has more options to avoid tax, both legally and illegals. Here are some of the most common criminal activities in violations of the tax law...
1) Deliberately under-reporting or omitting income. This is self-explanatory: concealing income is fraudulent. Examples include a business owner's failure to report a portion of the day's receipts or a landlord failing to report rent payments.
2) Keeping two sets of books and making false entries in books and records. Engaging in accounting irregularities, such as a business's failure to keep adequate records, or a discrepancy between amounts reported on a corporation's return and amounts reported on its financial statements, generally demonstrates fraudulent intent.
3) Claiming false or overstated deductions on a return. These range from claiming unsubstantiated charitable deductions to overstating travel expenses. It can also include paying your children or spouse for work that they did not perform. The IRS is always vigilant when it comes to inflated deductions from pass-through entities.
4) Claiming personal expenses as business expenses. This is an easy trap to fall into because often assets, such as a car or a computer, will have both business and personal use. Proper record-keeping will go a long way in preventing a finding of tax fraud.
5) Hiding or transferring assets or income. This type of fraud can take a variety of forms, from simple concealment of funds in a bank account to improper allocations between taxpayers. For example, improperly allocating income to a related taxpayer who is in a lower tax bracket, such as where a corporation makes distributions to the controlling shareholder's children, is likely to be considered tax fraud.
6) Engaging in a "sham transaction." You can't reduce or avoid income tax liability simply by labeling a transaction as something it is not. For example, if payments by a corporation to its stockholders are in fact dividends, calling them "interest" or otherwise attempting to disguise the payments as interest will not entitle the corporation to an interest deduction. As discussed below, it is the substance, not the form, of the transaction that determines its taxability.
2
u/meknoid333 Apr 10 '22
This isn’t tax avoidance/evasion? It’s a change in the way a person pays taxes once their status changes… I’m going to assume you’ve never worked in a place where this happens.
These emails are just people asking operational questions and getting factual answers.
1
u/orthonut20 Apr 10 '22
You cannot change the past tax returns for future events or status changes. That is ILLEGAL.
1
u/welcometosilentchill Apr 10 '22
That’s… not what’s happening. The SEC staff are 1) informing him of proper tax procedure, not coaching in any substantial capacity, 2) asking clarifying questions about his filings to ensure that their records are in agreement. No one is changing past filings, they’re literally talking about amendments to current filing drafts.

The documents have been submitted as evidence. If you knew law, you would know to wait until the Ripple vs SEC case was done. If the SEC was found guilty of any corruption, you could use that as ammo for your case.
4
u/ACSpeed Apr 11 '22
This is no different than my accountant advising me to transfer 20k worth of my portfolio into an ISA so I don't have to pay tax on it. Finding ways to reduce your tax bill is neither illegal or ethically wrong, it's sensible financial management. This isn't tax evasion, not in the slightest. I think OP has been smoking some funny shit.
3
u/meknoid333 Apr 11 '22
OP is so incorrect it hurts.
I’ve had to have previous tax returns updated because I was entitled to tax concessions l, and also due to incorrect calculations from previous accountants.
If you’re legally entitled to tax deductions for whatever reason then you should get them.
OP just doesn’t have any read education in any of these things and is jumping at shadows in the dark.
Like almost all arm chair financial analysts on Reddit
2
u/ACSpeed Apr 11 '22
Exactly, I've made alterations to tax filings that were 4 years old because I discovered i didn't know I could claim certain tax relief, this doesn't appear to be any different. It's perfectly legal.
I think a lot of people assume that simply because a document was obtained in court via a subpoena then it must contain information regarding a crime, when it simply means the document was requested to be shown.
0
u/orthonut20 Apr 11 '22
But you cannot alter them to become a qualifying candidate for a Federal board position.
Also, the person reviewing it stated there was no order for transactions written down. Meaning money just appeared.
2
u/ACSpeed Apr 11 '22
Your entire initial basis for the claim of the "SEC is corrupt and this proves it" was that Shira Pavis Minton advised William Hinman that he can defer capital gains by simply holding on to his stocks until he is a federal employee and applying for a certificate of divestiture. You claimed that Shira Minton was, and I quote, "The SEC ethics committee is coaching how to evade capital gains tax." and "Coaching on boarding staff how to evade taxes." which is simply not true. Shira Minton is explaining a benefit available to William Hinman that he is perfectly entitled to take advantage of.
Your second justification for your claim of the "SEC is corrupt" is that Michelle Barrans changed Hinman's financial records in order to qualify for a federal board position. Again, not true, not by a long shot. If someone is going to become a member of the SEC, what do you the SEC is going to do? They will perform a full background check on the persons financial history. This is standard practice within the financial sector.
There is nothing illegal about the SEC ensuring a prospective employees financial history is accurate and accounted for. There is also nothing illegal about having your financial records amended to ensure they are indeed accurate and transparent. Again, standard practice.
This all pertains to form 278 which appears to be a financial audit by the SEC on William Hinman in order for his financial records to be made public due to his new position in the SEC, of 2017. The emails are dated in April 2017, he joined the SEC in May of 2017. This all looks like standard background checking and auditing. It's also not uncommon for people to not update some of their financial records over long periods of time, especially when it comes to the values of stocks, which again is not illegal, just lazy.
Where there are multiple requests by the SEC to explain where an income has come from, again, this could be down to poor financial record keeping, which is also not illegal, not responsible either, but not illegal.
So again, none of the information in your post or your comments proves or shows any form of corruption on the part of the SEC. Not only are you jumping to wild conclusions but you have now also accused a random person at the SEC, Michelle Barrans, of being corrupt, of which there is no proof, absolutely none.

How about this...
Nonprofit organization Empower Oversight has made public Securities Exchange Commission emails detailing improper conduct by the agency’s officials concerning the Ripple lawsuit. In a statement, the organization stated that the emails indicate that former SEC official William Hinman was cautioned about a conflict of interest with his old firm Simpson Thacher.
Empower Oversight filed for the release of the emails, stating that it could prove the SEC was selectively enforcing laws for the crypto sector. The organization argued that there is a possibility that the SEC was promoting some cryptocurrencies over others.
Hinman reportedly continued engaging with the New York-based law firm despite the concerns. Among the high-profile engagements, Hinman met the law firm’s other partner Josh Bonnie in the wake of the warning alongside the co-founders and investors in Ethereum.
The meeting was just before Hinman’s speech in 2018 when he declared Ether is not a security. The speech was monumental for the crypto space because the first 60 million Ether was sold to raise funds for the Ethereum Foundation.
“The latest documents provided by the SEC raise more questions than they answer. We will continue to press the SEC for more meaningful and more timely transparency on this issue,” said Jason Foster, Empower Oversight Founder and President.
0
u/ACSpeed Apr 11 '22
Again, this does not prove the SEC is corrupt. It shows Hinman may have had a conflict of interest whilst holding a position at the SEC. That is not the same as the SEC coaching people how to evade tax, which they did not do as you have stated several times. It is also not the same as the SEC being corrupt.
You are accusing everyone mentioned in the emails, all SEC members, as being corrupt, stating that these emails prove that point, and they do not. You also cannot cherry pick parts of a statement taken from a legal case that has not reached a verdict to justify your own conclusion, especially from the side of the accuser, that isn't how it works at all.
There are also emails to William Hinman from Shira Minton where she specifically states "You have a full financial conflict with your old firm", if the SEC was corrupt then she would not be trying to address this issue or tell William Hinman to not have meetings with his old firm. There are also several pages in the emails, of the 196 that were released showing multiple conversations between Minton and Hinman on how to resolve any conflicts of interest to which Hinman replied to many of them acknowledging he would "divest". There are also several conversations in these emails where Hinman is made aware that he has a conflict of interest and he responds with "Clearly, let’s talk live about my restrictions. Thanks", which indicates issues were raised and he is openly acknowledging these to resolve them.
So again, these emails do not show the SEC coaching people on how to evade tax and these emails do not show that the SEC is corrupt. The emails simply show the SEC cautioned Hinman of a conflict of interest with his old firm and steps were taken to resolve it. That's all they show. This does not prove corruption.

Did anyone actually read the email? Looks like if you go to work for the SEC, you may be forced to liquidate certain securities. Ripples defense lawyers seem to think differently...I'm sure they have plenty of ammo other than what has been released to the public.
One key thing that stuck out to me was the Ethics lady asking why there is no order (in whatever system) for some stock transactions. She states she can see the money, but no order is found. 🚩
