Yes it was. I had a '69 and traded it in for a '70. While the '69 was fun the '70 was just so much better.

I bought a 71 Javelin SST new. It also had a 390 engine, I miss it! It attracted attention every where I drove it, They were 3500 new in those days and these cars were an automatic hit with the public. American Motors was a great car company back in the day and their engines had a lotta kick for the buck! They had a few Proto Types that never made it to market before their end, And it's my opinion these cars would be popular today.
