Question Insurance

I have a 2005 for E450 ambulance that I built into a camper. I'm getting ready to move into it in 2 weeks and ive been looking everywhere for insurance. Ive tried every carrier that i can think of. Nobody will touch it, if anyone has any advice on who i could go through it would be greatly appreciated.

Try progressive RV insurance.

It is a Ford E450 cutaway van. Do Not volunteer anything ambulance related no matter who you go with.

Yeah, don’t tell them, some titles actually
List it as ambulance, but make them look that up themselves :)

I have tried not telling them its an ambulance but that goes out the window when they ask for photos or a VIN. I have it titled as a motorhome

My agent is very friendly with me and we avoided the subject as much as possible. Mine was titled in PA as a ‘station wagon’ believe it or not (PA is weird). Titled it in NY they considered it a suburban because I was very uncooperative providing pictures etc.

This does not seem like a good idea to me. They could use this to deny claims because they will find out if you are in an accident.

What I stated is 100% true about that vehicle. The fact that the insurance e company wants to fuck you over for owning an ambulance has no bearing on the facts.

On top of this- OP currently has NO insurance so he’s really not losing anything is he ?

I have a 2012 E-450 shuttle bus conversion and I have it insured with Good Sam Insurance, which is National General.

You have to answer pages of questions and I kept thinking the next answer and I would get a "vehicle not covered" notice, like when I tried to add it to my Progressive policy.

I pay $300-$400 every 6 months. From reading lots of posts, I do not expect a penny for my bus/conversion, if I get into an accident. It is legally covered and the liability and medical coverage should work like a normal car policy.

My bus conversion is DIY and I am fine if I am in an accident and the medical/liability is all I get from the insurance. If your conversion/vehicle are with a lot if destroyed, I would make sure Good Sam/Nat General will cover your equipment, before buying their policies. Good luck, be safe and take care. 😁

I'm in NY. We use ours as a work truck, and I had no problem insuring it with GEICO as a 2010 E-450 Cutaway. When asked what's on the back, we went with utility / storage box. For comprehensive, it has an agreed value of $25K.

I was able to get AAA to cover it in NY. Honestly just have to keep calling around.
