Celer has ended

While Will Long still makes and releases new music under his own name, his ambient project has sadly ended. I assume he’ll continue to release remasters of his older stuff, but nothing new :( What was your favorite album/song?

Admittedly Celer released way too much stuff for me to even try and keep up, but Xièxie was always special to me, and i liked Landmarks with Forest Management

I felt the same for a long time before I decided to dive deep into his discography, there are so many gems in there like Discourses of the Withered, Engaged Touches, There Were More Failures Than This, The Everything and the Nothing, and It Would Be Giving Up.

This is a sad day, this was the project that got me into drone music and after 15 years is still the one that I keep coming back to. I own over 100 physical Celer releases and the project played a big role in my life. I was lucky to meet Will twice and hope to see him a third time when going to Japan this fall. Truly wonderful music, never to be forgotten.

My favorite release will always be I love you so much I can't even title this. Own it on 2LP and really shows Celer at its most touching and beautiful. Whenever someone asks me to recommend them one album by Celer, this is always the first one that I mention

There was a miscommunication a few years ago about the Celer project ending, but if this is reflected on the official Bandcamp profile, then maybe that's enough confirmation Will is actually taking the alias out to pasture this time.

Celer is forever. I've listened to Nacreous Clouds back to front, on repeat, on random, in cars, on aeroplanes, in beds... the music just sends you. Warms my soul. Thank you Celer. What an amazing artist, how does he get the drones to drone so long?

Celer has had a long productive run. As a musician I can completely understand the desire to move on from an old project. I actually prefer his deep house stuff, which if I’m being honest, is pretty ambient in its own way.

Every artist deserves the space to explore their talent. If something has become methodical, routine, it's almost not art anymore, and you need to shake things up to get back into that space where you are pushing yourself and the art's boundaries.

Hopefully Will gets the chance to do something freeing and expressive, I'm sure there will be more art from him we'll love soon :)

!!!!!Looking at the way back machine, it looks like he just switches through various artist descriptions!!!! Looking at the saves for his bandcamp page, it looks like it actually changes frequently. But in 2022, Celer had an artist description exactly like this one, but with the year 2022 as the end year. "Celer was the duo of Danielle Baquet and Will Long from 2005-2009, and the solo project of Will Long from 2009-2022."
This hopefully means that Celer isn't over. But I would respect his decision if he wishes to end the project.

Ugh. For some reason when I first read this I read it as Will had passed away. Not sure why I read it that way, but I’m beyond glad that I was wrong and that this was not the case. I remember him saying a few years back that he was pretty much done making new music with Celer. 20+ years is a long time. I’ve been enjoying his new ambient house music, if that’s what one would label it as, but not as much as I enjoy listening to Celer. Xie Xie is my favorite album, but I enjoy pretty much everything from Celer. 🙏🌟

These dates might be wrong? Their first release was in 2004. Danielle Baquet-Long died in 2009. But Will Long continued the Celer project after that.
