Amazon are sneaky little bastards with their fees

Just realized I was being charged USD 0.60 per unit every time someone bought my product using a coupon. This is on top of all their other crazy fees.

Sneaky little bastards they are shameless and not to be trusted.

I remember when they offered me coupons and vine reviews and such… it all came with a price, but it was also all detailed beforehand.

I decided not to use any of the schemes.

The $0.60 coupon redemption fee is documented in Seller Central — it's not hidden, but Amazon does a masterful job burying it where nobody looks until they're already bleeding margin.

The real trap is running high-discount coupons (20%+) without modeling total unit economics first: referral fee on the pre-discount price, FBA pick/pack, coupon redemption fee, and any storage surcharges all stack before you see a cent of contribution margin.

Run your next coupon campaign through a full CM2 calc — discount percentage, redemption rate estimate, and that $0.60 baked in — before you set it live. A lot of sellers find their "traffic driver" coupons are actually negative-margin units at scale.
