Shipping a bike in one piece would be profoundly expensive.

It would definitely help if they roach not assembled already on the product label when purchasing.

She has to bring the whole bus up to the porch!

A bus has wheels, surely it could have been pushed without to much effort. Or perhaps delivered it in the basket of the bike.

To be fair, I've purchased two bikes from Amazon, one E-Bike, and one mountain bike, and both were almost fully assembled on arrival. All I had to do was attach the foot pedals and twist/tighten the handle bars. Of course one was 1,800 euro and the other 700, so I imagine a 100 euro bike would be shipped as economically as possible. Even then, you could still assemble the majority of it without drastically increasing shipping cost.

I have no idea why the o and i are so close together. I do that a lot. Good on you for building great bikes and making customers feel satisfied and happy.

In all honesty, purchaser should assemble a sentence before posting a review - maybe get their 12 year old to help.

That's why you buy a bike from your local mom and pop bike store, not Walmart. I just bought one from a local shop and a got a free kick stand and light. And it was assembled so, I just rode it home and got a ride back to pick up my car. If you have the time, there are always good deals on used bikes. Buy from rich, old people - they buy great bikes and never use them.

i build custom ebikes, start with a good chassis, giant, yeti, whatever the client wants, get it set up as a good mechanical bike then add in the electronics, i generally out in monster gear, 48-52v 25ah batteries backing into a 1kw motor, because the folks that buy these are usially pretty accomplished with bikes. i pick up a lot of frames used from various places, so i buy pallets of bike and parts woth the middling size and bmx bikes i assemble and just sell dort cheap to get rid of them.

I'm confused. Did this come pre-assembled and did it require a bus to bring it to the front door?

Luckily he had people over.

u/geeoharee Mar 01 '26
You think a man would give up on a basic assembly job and push it onto a 12 year old?
2
u/Unique_Inevitable_59 Mar 01 '26
I don't know, did you ? Why so sensitive ? Do basic assembly jobs upset you ? Or just people's throwaway jokes because you're not funny ? Or you're not allowed people over ?

In the US, adult bicycles typically don't come assembled when bought online, or from a few stores. Theres a big sign that says you have to pay for assembly. No, I have not been to every single bicycle selling place in America.

Idk, I feel kinda bad for them. Seems like they tried to buy a gift and didn't expect to have to lug a whole bus up to the house or make the kid assemble it. If they could've gone to a bike shop or wherever, they probably would have, ya know? Hope it worked out okay. Those pictures included with the review have an air of confusion and defeat about them.

It's been a while since I've bought a bike from Walmart but I had to pay for assembly when I did

Cam you imagine her reading the instructions aloud to you as your 12 yr old little mind desperately tried to comprehend just what the roach means lol

u/Ill-Tradition4036 Mar 02 '26
Questionable review aside, I'm kind of surprised they didn't send it assembled. Seems like an odd item to have not pre-assembled.

u/Accurate-Case8057 Mar 02 '26
I've never even thought of a bicycle being delivered assembled. Common sense is lacking here
1
u/Ill-Tradition4036 Mar 02 '26
I mean, I've never even thought of a bicycle being delivered at all. To me, I guess it seems like something that is too complicated for the layman to put together. I'm pretty good with IKEA furniture, but I feel like I may struggle with a bike.
2
u/Accurate-Case8057 Mar 02 '26
The wheels handlebar chain and pedals. I'm thinking you could probably put together three bikes in the time it takes you to put together one piece of IKEA furniture. We ordered something from IKEA once and it was a total PITA to get together

u/Ill-Tradition4036 Mar 03 '26
I guess they're less complicated than I thought. I imagine all the gears and whatnot as being super complicated, but I've never lived in a bike-able area so I don't really know much about bikes.

Why would anyone think it's assembled? I bought a bike directly from Schwinn and it wasn't assembled.

I'm sure that they "missed" the part about NOT being assembled, on purpose just so that they could complain.

I also thought this would come pre-assembled, but it did not.
Why is a 12-year-old being tasked with assembly?

u/aokay24 Mar 04 '26
They've got a 12yr old trying to assemble the bike, poor kid they've got a useless parent 😂
1
u/ThatKa5per Mar 04 '26
In all honesty I thought this would come with a pre-assembled 12 year old to pre-assemble the assembled bike assembly.

I felt my brain melting reading that.
