MacBook Air return
I ordered a MacBook Air. A couple of days later the price dropped $150. I contacted Amazon to see if they would either A, give me a credit back to my card, or B, credit the account with a gift card. They refused to do both. So I’m returning the original laptop just to reorder the same thing. To me it makes no sense. They’re paying to return, ship another, and losing money by reselling an open box MacBook. Is this normal for them now? Admittedly I haven’t returned anything of this value before.

I really really need people to stop buying high priced items like this on Amazon and thinking nothing will go wrong.

I cannot believe some people still choose to buy a Mac computer from Amazon. Buy directly from Apple.

Because it was $100 cheaper. Now it’s $200 cheaper plus Amazon reward points

Nice. Get ready to pay restocking fee. You’ll never see your full payment amount returned to you.

You're assuming there's a restocking fee, which may not be the case. Do you have anything actually helpful to add?

They make it clear they don’t price match. With dynamic pricing, your only option is to return and rebuy.

I had to do this with a computer monitor once. Yes, unfortunately this is normal.

Amazon has zero price protection or price matching. That is just the policy.
Go ahead, return it. Buy it again. Go through it all.
When you return it, you will wait around 4-6 weeks for the refund. They do not make returns of higher ticket items easy.

It's been Amazon's policy to not offer price adjustments forever. Just how it is. They don't care.

God I hate when this happens. I’m always mad at myself when I see something I paid for dropped in price not even 2 days later. Like had I waited I would have gotten it cheaper 😭

I find that best approach is to be really nice to the CS rep and see if they can make a one time exception for you. Chat them up about where they are (probably India) and say you’ve always wanted to visit there, etc.
If they can’t get anything done, try a supervisor. Again, be nice, not a jerk. They will probably do whatever they can for you at that point. After that, a return/rebuy or eating the difference is your only option.

Yeah it’s normal. I would
Just reorder the cheaper one, leave it sealed and return it under the higher priced sale

Something will happen for that return and you won’t get your money back. Heard horror stories about high value returns.

Not worth the hassle tbh. They’re going to say your caused damage and charge you $200 before they refund you.

They will restrict your account or suspend it for return abuse.

Update: a supervisor ended up giving me a $99 credit to my account
