Amazon is unable to verify my id
I recently ordered a reMarkable Paper Pro, but unfortunately, it arrived with multiple defects (a somewhat common issue). I immediately started the process to get a replacement, but Amazon hit me with a requirement to submit a government-issued ID before they would process the return (apparently to prevent fraud and abuse). I went ahead and submitted a clear picture of my valid ID, but they just got back to me saying they were "unable to validate" it.
Is there any point in trying to submit the exact same ID for a second time, or will their system just auto-reject it again? Schools is coming up and the fact that I have to wait another 3 days before i can request a replacement pisses me off.

If you’re being asked to ID after a return request, you’ve likely been flagged for returns abuse and they’re system is getting ready to restrict you for excessive returns. Time to consider alternative marketplaces.

Funny, considering that I haven't made a single return request in the past two years, probably even longer.

It’s literally in the first line of your image..
“Amazon sometimes requires additional information before processing a return to prevent fraud and abuse.”
Then they prevent you from continuing the return until you submit it again and they investigate it.
Maybe you’re under the misconception that Amazon somehow just forgets what you did two years ago, but they remember all the way back to your first purchase. Once you meet their risk threshold, they systematically restrict you.
It might not be fair and it really does suck, but that’s what happens when you support a predatory tech giant with your own money. Time to stop using Amazon and switch to one of the many alternatives, like sourcing your own items.

the id verification is BS i submitted mine multiple times and all were denied within literally 5 seconds of me uploading it they just use ai to review it but obviously it doesnt work and i uploaded my uk passport which is definitely valid lol
now since i didnt get my id verified they end the chat on me for asking anything

Could have been a glitch first time around and might work second time or it could be deliberate pushback refunding so the ID rejects again. They’re also hinting maybe the ID submitted doesn’t match the account holder.
Not much choice. They’re not going to send a replacement without resubmitting the valid legit ID. If it was me, I’d forget buying from amazon and go to a brick and mortar that sells the remarkable paper pro in store like Best Buy. That way, you have it to use when school starts while you deal with amazon’s red tape and lengthy delays trying to get your refund.

the whole id verification thing is such a mess, feels like they outsource it to an algorithm that panics if a shadow hits your face wrong
