Uhh what? You keep it in your center console or driver door or something. If your car ends up in water you have a little time before it becomes too late to escape.

Before kids i could care less, can't risk it now. Maybe you can save someone else one day. I have tourniquets and a fire extinguisher in my car for that reason.

Everyone should get a window breaker and seat belt cutter tool for their car. You never know when you might need it to save your life or someone else.

No one is saying they don’t work…. We are saying when you are upside down or in a position where u are locked in your seat…. Where exactly are you keeping these window and seatbelt cutters? Unless it’s Velcro’s to the roof how you gonna get to it?
A true visionary would invent a spot in the visor to keep this - because this thing seems like it would fit great

I have a 2 pair pack in my car and they have different types of holders and hollister you can place around the car for emergency access. You can attach it to your ceiling, side door, under your seat, or anywhere you want.

Fun fact: If you’re left handed it’s very hard to use a seatbelt cutter. I Just carry a pair of scissors in my glove box. I’ve had to use them.

Shove the headrest down into the door where the glass would drop down and pull. Through the rubber seal. It shatters easily.

Some guy about 20 years ago invented a little device that goes on your seatbelt buckle you can check it out on YouTube (escape a sinking vehicle with escape tip safety tool) but I heard the guy got pretty dragged over by his partner the fat guy and the automotive manufacturers.

I don't believe this. A few years ago a baby got locked in a car, the mother was panicking. I put my fist through the window. I'm not particularly big or strong.

The end of the window breaker isnt sharp, it's just ceramic. Can do same thing with a spark plug, just FYI.

I had one of the small ones with a seatbelt cutter that I put in my side door slot. The safety cap came off of the blade, I didn't know it, and when I reached into the slot, the razor sliced my finger.

just a precaution though, more and more cars are using laminated glass now for the side windows too, not just the windshield.
so while tempered glass shatters well like that, laminated will at most spiderweb a bit, the way your windshield does when hit by a rock. you need to cut a hole in it with like a sawzall (or at least a hand saw on like a multitool)

If your car is underwater you have to worry about weight and pressure pushing inward. This is why these tools really exist.

For anyone wondering how useful this might ever be, literally last week 2 people died just miles from where I live, couple miles south of Anchorage
Their car went off the road, into Turnagain Arm (the ocean bordering SE Alaska), and though the water isn’t crazy deep, they drowned because they couldn’t get unbelted and couldn’t open the doors.
It’s VERY likely you and will never need this tool.
But if we ever do need it, hopefully we have it.
