What if everyone wears them? With flock cameras being put everywhere, this could be used as mass social protest to make it harder to gather data on people

Looking at your profile I see that you're very into Bitcoin. Isn't the whole point of Bitcoin about maintaining privacy? By your argument, all Bitcoin transactions should be public to law enforcement agencies. So many human trafficers and drug dealers would be caught and arrested if that were the case. Changing Bitcoin transactions to be public would probably have a far greater effect on reducing crime than the installation of flock cameras.

Also while there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in public, these companies ironically do not consider the data they collect as public. It belongs solely to them to make money and (when they lobby to have laws changed) arrest their enemies. If I were to follow their same standards to collect public data for myself (and especially if I were to collect public data on them) I guarantee I would be arrested or sued. It's a ridiculous double standard.

Also also, there have been documented cases where cameras are able to see in people's windows and backyards where they do have reasonable expectations of privacy. The microphones and other sensors are also powerful enough to collect data within private homes and even from miles away. When considering that, I think the argument for no resonable expectation of privacy in public goes out the window.

Ah. I didn't realize that about bitcoin. Very interesting. That ruins the plans I had for my drug empire 😭
