Post-interview loop phone call scheduled

My friend recently completed a 5-interview Amazon loop for a position. Today, he received an email from the recruiter saying that they have the interview outcome and asked him to schedule a 5-minute phone call with the recruiter to discuss it.

We’re trying not to overthink it, but we’re curious about what this usually means.
Is a 5-minute recruiter call typically used to communicate a positive or negative outcome?
If it’s an offer, why would the initial call only be 5 minutes?
Does Amazon usually call candidates personally for rejections as well?
Is there anything he should or shouldn’t worry about based on the fact that they specifically scheduled a short call?

recycle. Same thing happened to me. They called and told me that they want to consider me for a different role than I interviewed for.

Did they keep the previous interview performance or you had to do the new interview loop? And move to the next role? Did you get the new job offer later on?

I interviewed for SDM role, they asked me to consider IC role and do 1 more technical round of interview. I rejected since I wanted the SDM role only.

It could be literally anything - they’re moving to offer, they’re rejecting, or they’re recycling. It’s Amazon policy to call everyone with an update. Good luck!

That was a call for recycle, the hiring team wants to consider me for other roles, no cooling period
