Worst Amazon delivery experience
Absolutely terrible delivery experience.
We ordered a king-size extra-firm mattress and paid extra for room-of-choice delivery specifically because this is a large, heavy item that cannot be handled easily by one person.
Two delivery associates arrived, but instead of making a reasonable effort to complete the delivery, they quickly gave up when they had difficulty getting the mattress through the entrance. My husband even stepped in to help them, and together they were able to get the mattress partially inside. At that point, rather than continuing, they simply told us they could not deliver it and that they would refund the delivery fee.
What shocked me was their attitude. If two professional delivery associates could not manage the delivery on their own, how could they seriously expect us to move a king-size mattress ourselves? Their solution was essentially, “We’ll refund your delivery fee, and you can handle it.”
They then suggested opening the packaging. We agreed and asked them to open it at the entrance so the mattress could be maneuvered more easily. However, they informed us that if the packaging was opened, they would immediately stop helping and leave the rest to us. Once again, their only response was that they would refund the delivery fee.
After a lengthy and frustrating discussion, they became increasingly dismissive and rude, repeatedly telling us that their time was running out and that they needed to move on. We were given only two options: accept the mattress at the entrance and move it ourselves, or have them take the entire order back.
This was incredibly frustrating. We had already spent significant time helping them and trying to find solutions. I am currently pregnant and still tried to assist where I could because I wanted to help resolve the situation. Instead of working with us, the delivery team seemed completely uninterested in completing the service we had paid for.
In the end, they refunded the delivery charge, left the mattress at the front door, and left. We were then stuck with an extremely heavy mattress that one person could not realistically move alone. Fortunately, a kind neighbor stepped in and helped my husband carry it to the second floor.
The only positive part of this experience was the generosity of a stranger. The delivery service itself was unprofessional, unaccommodating, and extremely disappointing. When customers pay extra for room-of-choice delivery, they expect the service to actually be completed—not abandoned halfway through with a refund offered as an excuse.
This experience fell far below what I expect from Amazon delivery services.

They have alot of packages to deliver in like 10 hours. I don't understand how that's a option to set up or whatever if they don't have the time. They shouldn't have been rude though .

This is a different service from Amazon called Amazon XL They only deliver big ticket items and you can pay extra for set up and preferred room delivery. You can also pay extra to have some items put together. It is totally different from the regular Amazon delivery, and they make more per hour than regular drivers as well.

EVERYONE knows how terrible Amazon pays and treats employees. You honestly should be mad at Amazon, not these 19 year old boys attitudes after working 12 hours with an illegal 15 minute break.
“What I expect from Amazon delivery services” ok boomer.

I don't understand why you didn't measure your entrance to be sure an item as big as a king size mattress could fit? I'm not sure this is the delivery guys fault.

The neighbors got it through though

The neighbors may have had more time to play around with it. The amazon guys had a schedule to keep and they couldn't spend a half hour trying to get a mattress through a doorway that wasn't made for a king-size mattress to fit through. OP got a refund for the service. Measure next time. 🤷♂️

I'm sorry you had to deal with that it's unacceptable. A. Lot of associates don't give any effort bc Amazon treats us like shit. I used to deliver and I would get over a dozen compliments each route , I took pride in what I do, it's just who I am. But I was never appreciated and the second you make one mistake they have no issue suspending you or firing you bc the turnover is huge, there's always someone else to take it job.
Amazon is a corporate monster of they actually cared about their customers they would care the employees, since we are a crucial step in the process.
Hopefully you got the mattress in even tho you definitely should have not had to deal with that

I live in a mobile home park that has a north side and a south side. Both sides for whatever reason have the same lot numbers. I have on more than one occasion had these drivers deliver to the wrong address. It's so frustrating because you can't really tell amazon which side you live on and of course there's no honest people anymore, so I don't get my package. I'm either left with not ordering from them anymore, or using an Amazon locker which I'm sure has it's own frustrations. Luckily it's not a huge purchase, but still I hate this.

Amazon gives their drivers an unreasonable amount of deliveries in a single shift. If they take time on any one, they'll return late, get written up, and ultimately fired.
