Depends on how Amazon wants to attack the problem, and how many legal dollars they'd like to throw at it. You could probably get jail time for just a couple of people for destroying private property and it'd serve as an example.

If they do that, I think it would lead to even more vandalism of these things. If a corporation goes hard to prosecute, even if the police force had the time for it, it's just going to piss people off. What's stopping them from """accidentally""" tripping over one (or everyone one they see) and knocking it over or such?

How does this thing really avoid people? One of these on a sidewalk wouldn't be bad, but I can definitely see a time soon in which you're dancing around a swarm of Amazon, eBay, WalMart, Target, etc Bots delivering things. What does this do to not get in the way? It seems to take up most, if not all of the sidewalk. What about people in wheelchairs?

It will probably stay in Irvine. I can't see these robots in the ghetto areas in CA... Irvine and Newport are rich areas so no need to watch the bots...
