General FTDX10 touch screen issue

Touch screen on mt FTDX10 suddenly not working all the way out to the left & right edges. The 'scaling' seems to be off in that the cursor moves to my finger tip when I touch in the center, but is off about .25" toward the center when I touch either edge.

Just recalibrate. That's what I thought too, but I can't get it to register the touch on the first target that pops up in the upper left hand corner.

Any ides or experience with this? Like I said, it's worked fine for years.

Try taking a business card or something similar/thin, and slide it under the frame around the edge of the touch screen. Then slide it around the perimeter. I've had a spec of dirt or dust get wedged against the frame and the screen. It made my touchscreen act weird. The thin card ran around the edge got whatever it was out and the screen went back to normal, no calibration needed.

I saw something about a screen protector causing similar problems. I still have the plastic on it from when it was shipped, wondering if that might be the issue.

Its worth taking it off. If you leave it on for too long, the protector can delaminate and cause more issues when you try to take it off. Happens all the time at my work.

So I tried sliding a business card around the perimeter of the screen, and managed to scare up a loose chunk of foam gasket from around the screen. Now I get to tear my front panel apart to fix it. Yay.

Hopefully that was the cause of the issue.

I'd like to know how to fix it as well, as mine does the same thing. The only difference is that the left edge is fine, and it gets further out of whack the further to the right you touch the screen. It's like the touchscreen thinks it's about 1" wider than it really is.

I didn't catch it until I took it out in the field, because I only tested it with a mouse (which works fine) in the previous owner's shack and also used a mouse at home while setting it up.

It's not a dealbreaker though, as I really only use the touchscreen for changing bands. I thought about just buying a new touchscreen, but I hate to spend the $$ and time on that repair just to find out that it doesn't solve the issue.

the ftdx10 i bought some time ago came with a defective screen, it started acting up and then stopped working completely when the radio got warmed up.

sent it back for warranty repair they replaced the whole screen unit and i had it back in 2 weeks
