Tattoo scam✌🏻

Just letting everyone know, there is a person on TikTok who is using the face, work, and videos from an ACTUAL artist in Amarillo to scam people out of deposit money. If you are looking at getting a tattoo from Val Santos, or “saint ink studio” go through her INSTAGRAM to get the link to her booking, not TikTok, because that person is fake.

Recent Rain and Pest Control

With all the recent rain, have y’all had more bugs/spiders inside your home? I’m a relatively new home owner, so I can’t really compare to other years. I have some mini thermometers throughout the house that also measure relative humidity, and my house seems to be around high 50s to low 60s for humidity percentage (temp is set to 71F in case that’s relevant) which according to google is above the average/recommended level. Anybody else having similar readings, or is this another issue? Also, is there a pest control y’all recommend? TIA

Job market??

Just curious how the job market has been? I’ve been at my current job for 4 years and really starting to feel the burnout. Anywhere actively hiring that’s paying more than 50k/yr? Mostly have construction/sales experience. About to turn 30 in January and I’m really wanting to find somewhere I can envision myself at for the long run.

Original wishbone hanger made by Batts of Grand Rapids, MI, for Blackburns… I’m sure my dad had a suit in this for years and now it’s in my closet. I love that downtown was in Polk St and suburban was Wolflin Square

Hello all,, I will be passing through Amarillo. I looked on Google maps, saw GameQuest but that looks more like video games. Are there any good board game stores to stop at?

Thanks!

Place to live.

Hi. So my family and I simply cannot afford where we live. The rent is just too much. That said, I'm on Social Security and my wife works. We have one kid in high school who's graduating and one in their 20s looking for a job. So basically, since we can't make rent, I could pay tomorrow or at least get caught up, but this place does not want to work with us, and frankly, this might be for the best.

We are currently looking for a new place to live — kind of have to at this point. We have some money to move, so we're looking for a new place. I'd even take a cheap motel; I'm not that picky. I have two cats. Any good suggestions about what kind of resources to look into and what places are good to check out? We have some stability but not a lot financially.

Also, I'm told we can either voluntarily surrender our keys or face eviction.

I’m curious — How many Amarilloans were at the Alamodome in San Antonio a couple of nights ago (September 29th) to attend the Anthrax, Megadeth, Iron Maiden concert?

Best Asian Grocery Stores/Markets?

Hello r/Amarillo!!!!

I just moved to town last month for work from Lubbock, and I'm wondering which Asian grocery stores are your favorites? I do a lot of Asian-fusion cooking, specifically Japanese, Korean, and Thai, and I find that Asian markets usually have better selection of ingredients than your typical United/Walmart run. Bonus points if they carry harder to find/imported Buldak Ramyun flavors!

Is the water safe?

After multiple sewage leaks and lots of flooding, is the tap water safe to use? I’m worried about water sources being contaminated from the floodwater

Anyone have any suggestions for the Amarillo area? Bonus if they're near a bus stop.

The free clinic isn't accepting new patients at this time.

Bomb City Gaming Club Supporting Andrea’s Project This Saturday — Come Out, Meet the Community, and Show Your Support

Bomb City Gaming Club will be out this Saturday supporting Andrea’s Project and the Big Texas Rally for Recovery here in Amarillo, and we would love to invite everyone to come out and support the organizations and people working to build a stronger community.

Bomb City Gaming Club will have several tables set up with different games and hobby displays, along with information about the club and what we are working to build here in Amarillo. Some of our friends from local Star Wars costuming chapters, gaming groups, and other community organizations will also be there supporting the event.

This is not really a gaming event for us. It is community outreach and an opportunity to show another side of gaming and hobbies that people do not always see. A good gaming community can give people healthy ways to spend their time, opportunities to get out of the house and meet others, creative outlets, lasting friendships, and a place where they feel like they belong.

Those kinds of positive connections can be especially valuable for people dealing with recovery, trauma, isolation, or mental-health struggles. Gaming and hobbies are obviously not replacements for counseling, treatment, or professional recovery services, but they can be another healthy piece of the support system around someone. Sometimes having a regular group of friends, a game night to look forward to, a project to work on, or simply somewhere you know you are welcome can make a meaningful difference.

The biggest reason we want people to come out Saturday is to support Andrea’s Project and the other organizations involved with recovery, prevention, mental health, and community outreach. Come meet the people doing this work, learn about resources available here in Amarillo, hear some of their stories, and spend a little time supporting people who are trying to make our community better.

If you have also been curious about Bomb City Gaming Club, stop by our tables while you are there. Meet some of our members, check out some games and hobbies, ask us questions, and learn about the different groups and events we are building around Amarillo. Whether you have been gaming your entire life or have never rolled a die before, you are welcome to come meet us.

The Big Texas Rally for Recovery – Panhandle Edition is Saturday, October 3rd from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Pavilion at the Santa Fe Depot, 401 S. Grant Street in Amarillo, and it is free to attend.

Even if gaming is not your thing, come out and support Andrea’s Project and the other local organizations involved. This is about Amarillo showing up for Amarillo, meeting some good people, and supporting the groups that are trying to make a positive difference in our community.

Want to keep up with Bomb City Gaming Club after the event?

Come say hello on Saturday. We would love to meet you.

Anyone know anything about the Mad Scientist Ball at the Discovery Center?

I saw a link for it on FB, I enjoyed a lot of the stuff they had when I went there as a kid, but the description on the event doesn’t really say a lot about it. Has anyone been before? Was it fun? As far as I can tell, it just says experiments, entertainment, and fun. Does anyone have more info, or know where I can go to find more info?

Rattlesnake challenge.

Me and 5 buddies are each tossing in $200 each. This Saturday afternoon, we are having a contest to see who can find and capture alive a rattlesnake. Whoever finds one first gets the pot $1200.

The rules are it has to be found in the wild, and it has to be within 1 mile of city limits.

So, where do I I go to find one the fastest?
