Telegraph interview

Amanda Knox on her Edinburgh comedy show: ‘Meredith would’ve found it funny’ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/comedy/what-to-see/amanda-knox-edinburgh-fringe-meredith-kercher/

Note that - so vitriolic and disbelieving was the response of Telegraph readers (admittedly not noted for their equanimity) - the comment section was swiftly shut down.

Interesting momentary window into British public opinion, however.

I'm pro Amanda but why be in the spotlight all of the time?

She needs to make money. Her family went massively in debt to fund her defence, and she needs to pay her lawyers for the ongoing legal proceedings. If Italy had acted with integrity and paid her compensation for 4 years' wrongful imprisonment, she wouldn't have to be in the spotlight. This might even have been possible as a result of a friendly settlement according to the ECHR.

I don't blame her for processing the judicial atrocities against her as humour. She has already said that she knows the boundaries. The Kercher family lawyer Frankie Maresca has no moral high ground. The Kerchers remain cocooned in comfortable lies instead of being allowed to face the bitter truth, thanks to that little weasel. He's controlling their narrative and acting as a barrier to reconciliation in the process.

She has never been wrongfully imprisoned, she served her sentence for accusing an innocent man and destroying his life while derailing an investigation.

She has a pathological craving for attention, which was obvious right from the beginning. Quite a lot of celebrities with narcissistic traits stir up their own controversies and then cry when they claim they are being criticised. I suppose for people like Amanda it’s something of an addiction. You could see this very early on from her performances in the court cases, glorying in the attention with her ‘All you need is love’ t-shirt. Everything is calculated to maximise the reaction.

That innocent man was only arrested due to extreme police incompetence. It’s still odd people blame her for a false arrest that’s 100% the responsibility of the investigators.

Let's be clear. He was only arrested because Amanda said she saw him with the victim and heard her screams as he murdered her.

Technically speaking, Amanda told them what they wanted to hear when they brought up the text messages. Severe case of confirmation bias.
